    Know that's hunting!
The previous pics, add merit to the I-Q test I suggested. No one with an 85 or less.
I would like to see the documentation of the safety courses they took, and their idea of a gun safe. I'll bet that gun costs more than he makes in a lifetime, I wonder who gave it to him? and why?
You can find bad in anything, does not include everything.
Do you believe Granny isn't a posed picture?
You love funniest home videos and reality shows to, don't ya? Anything but reality shows, I mean.
I wonder how much she got, or how long she can hold that "Hog-Leg" up.
So two seater sports cars and motorcycles can be banned?
Only 18 wheelers on the road?

85? I would have thought anyone in double figures LOL/

That 'Granny' is HM he Queen LOL. She got quite a lot.

Seriously though, ok, in the countryside I can understand owning a firearm, if you can prove you are responsible and safe, no problem. Unfortunatly most people arent.

    Ditto !
My point was "BANS" don't just include people in Time Square, they include all who do hunt for food, cheaper than store food.
An area ban might be a good thing. Example...I know of no game in LA or Orange County!
Though there have been Mountain Lions walking the fence at gradeschool playgrounds.
That should be a job for animal control, but none of those guys/gals want to deal with anything that fights back!

Of course those pics I managed to find after a long long search (I know there are more somewhere but I can't find them) were put in a facetious mood.

SW, who looks after suitability to purchase a gun in the US (in general terms of course, it must vary from state to state)? Documentation, safety courses? Is it the Police, local or State?

As for the gun cost, an Avtomatiki Kalashnikov is cheap in some places, and the guy certainly earns nothing except for what his warlord gives him in a good mood or he can pilfer (or when he holds sme Blue Helmet for ransom!)

As Stefan said before, this is the Head of the Church of England :D , you really need to renew your lenses ;)

The local police chief is an old pal of my wife (that's how I get a patrol car every night in the wee hours passing by my house...), one of this days I might ask him what do I need to get a gun license myself. That shouldn't be too difficult, I am white, have a steady job and family, mature age, and live in a more or less isolated place so I can show justification.

There, I've attracted fire and brimstone from my other European co-residents+ :D but frankly I don't want to face another group of burglars with a breadknife and a hammer and sickle flag (I kid you not)

The only trouble is it appears the maximum legal calibre for a handgun is 6.35mm (.25) which is fine if I want to send cockroaches to Walhalla!

SW, I'd forgotten about you, sorry! You and the other yanks, what do you think of my own version of 2nd Amendment Mk2? ;)

By the by, on the blog where I took those Sierra Leone pics, the comment ran:
"The images below were taken during the battle for the Liberian capital, Monrovia, where local custom dictates that the use of a weapon?s sights is strictly prohibited. Also prohibited are aiming, assuming a supported firing position ? in fact anything that might resemble anything that might constitute marksmanship. Hip hop / rappa / gangsta poses are mandatory, as we will see. " Jeez! More here: http://www.fmft.net/archives/cat_military.html

Handgun Is Better Than A Woman
    1) You can buy a silencer for a handgun.

    2) You can trade a .44 for two .22's.

    3) You can have a handgun at home and another for the road.

    4) If you admire a friend's handgun and tell him so, he will be impressed and let you try a few rounds with it.

    5) Your primary handgun doesn't mind if you have a backup.

    6) Your handgun will stay with you even if you are out of ammo.

    7) A handgun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.

    8) Handguns function normally every day of the month.

    9) A handgun won't ask, "Do these grips make me look fat?"

    10) A handgun does not mind if you go to sleep after you're done using it.

    11) You can have more than one handgun living in the same house without having problems.

    12) A handgun doesn't care how big your trigger finger is.

    13) A handgun won't tell all of its friends if you are a "little fast on the trigger."

Individual States do. I have a Liscence to carry concealed. Went through a 3 hour "class" and documented more than a felon. ALL 10 fingers were thumbprinted, too.
But you can carry open[aka.John Wayne]in my State.

Another thing the 2nd Amendment is about: [IMG]

This little .22cal was my Grandad's......dated 1943. It's engraved in the stock. I also had[sold it]a WWII vintage Colt .32 auto and my brother a WWII Colt .45 1911.
Can step out in the back yard and shoot them all without worrying about Police showing up asking questions.

"Right, a bad guy comes into my house at 2AM, I get up, run own stairs to the cabinet my rifle is kept in by which time he has my 10 year old daughter against a wall with a gun to her head, nice."

Wrong, you keep it nearby & use your noodle as to how it is safe from your kids.

& to claim book as biased, one must provide evidence of it. & believe me, it has been tried. So far Lott has dismissed all attempts.

" Never the less, firearms provide excellent sporting oppurtunities for our youth. They teach responsibility"

How about our Vice Prez and the guy he peppered a few months back ? :D

I know, I know, the guy looked like a duck !

152, my father once managed to bag a dog and a brother-in-law with the same shot.

Accidents happen, so I still wonder why absolutely nobody ever went out hunting with him again :D

@ chrome: I did not meant carrying a weapon equals being an asshole.

And I don't consider AT ALL you chrome as an asshole. I appreciate some warbirds discussions we had here. Of course this subject is a little hot, but I guess you knew when you wrote the 1st post.

It was a way to show how dumb is the reasoning : "too many idiots / criminals and in general people I got no particular reason to trust - carry a weapon around, so I'm scared and I have to carry a weapon myself."

Too many weapons creates fear and the need weapon, so it makes more weapons around which equals even more fear etc...

anyway chrome, weapons save lives means NOTHING :

Compare France & USA injury casualties / violent deaths for 2000.

This includes criminal/legal (killed by police or maybe militia lol) deaths, accidents, unintentional homicides, suicides, car crash etc etc.

    France 22.000 = 0.03 % of population USA 148.000 = 0.05 % of population, so far so good

Now let's consider only crime related homicides :

France : 1.000 homicides by all way, not only firearms (includes poisoning, strangling, eviscerating with swiss army knife, clubbing to death etc etc) : it's 4.5 % of total violent casualties

USA : 16.000 criminal homicides by all way : its 11 % of total violent casualties ! Twice as much ! On these 16.000 casualties, 11.000 are firearms related !!! Almost 70 % of criminal homicides are caused by firearms !

    Want more ?

    USA year 2000

violent casualaties (all reasons including accidents, suicides, crime etc) : 148.000

on these 148k, casulaties related to fire arms (including suicides, accidents crimes etc) equals 28.000 (19% of above)

on these 28k firearms casualties : 16.000 suicides, 11.000 criminal homicides, less than 300 legal homicides (police shooting criminals), less than 800 firearms accidents.

This proves : the share of criminal homicides into violent deaths is twice as big in USA than in France, almost 70 % of these USA criminal homicides being caused by firearms.

So I ask you chrome : how can such numbers be reached ? Do people in USA have a special affinity with gun crime, or is it just that there are far too many weapons around ?

Really, my point is not that I don't want you chrome or whoever to carry a gun, my point is that I don't want you chrome or whoever to get shot.

@ skunk : of course you should not be denied to protect yourself against bears, but many armed people don't live under the threat of brears.

Cities where regular folk carry weapons have less crime.

& if you look at the recent rise in carjacking, it make perfect sense to carry a weapon or mace on your person, or in your car. That equates to exactly what you said. Too many a-holes with weapons = I should have one.

Can't people understand that a dumb gun control policy (or the lack of any) is directly responsible of the widespread of guns in criminal hands ?

40% of firearms casualties are criminal homicides !!!

less guns = less crime = more security

I wish you dodge bullets, John Wayne :D

sorry I edited my post above after you replied

Right, like the cat who goes in my house bought his gun a K-mart, c'mon wake up. Strict gun policy only makes it hard for the law abiding citizen to get one. "he" put his gun in his hand & it had nothing to do with lax gun policy.
