    Hi guys,

My name is Mako Kaspers, I was born in Holland. My grandfather was drafted in the Dutch Army after the liberalization of Indonesia. He is still alive and healthy, but I don't have much contact with him since I live in the Caribbean, and he still lives in Holland. Does anyone know how I can find him online in which regiment, which company he served in?

Could anyone please help me how this forum works? I've seen many people with ranks, awards etc. and I have no clue how that works

    Thanks all,

    Mako

Hello Mako -- Welcome to the forum! This is a great place and I expect you will enjoy your time here. Jump right in!

In general terms, your ranks and awards increase with your participation in discussions and the prestige/salutes that your posts generate. For more info on salutes, click here (http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-forums-news/26441-salutes-thank-your-fellow-rogues.html).

If you spend some time reading through the forum news threads and just watch how other members interact, you will get the hang of things pretty quickly. Take your time and explore and I believe you will probably answer most of your questions.

    Cheers!

Hello Mako. Your father may still have his military book and or recrds. You may also request these at the Dutch Veteran Affairs (Ministry of Defense). Did your dad serve in Holland ?
