When even the Germans are saying they can't take any more, those who have already warned this would happen can't all be wrong. "Germany’s open-door policy to refugees appeared to be unravelling tonight following the country's reinstatement of border controls to curb the overwhelming influx of migrants. Europe’s top economy halted all trains from Austria and, in an historic move, temporarily suspended the open borders Schengen Agreement in response to the arrival of tens of thousands of Syrian refugees in recent days. The decision marks a dramatic shift away from the current abolishment of passport checks throughout Europe's Schengen zone. Some 10 million people have been forced from their homes in Syria, with almost 500,000 arriving in Europe German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said: 'At this moment Germany is temporarily introducing border controls again along [the EU's] internal borders. The focus will be on the border to Austria at first. 'The aim of these measures is to limit the current inflows to Germany and to return to orderly procedures when people enter the country. Mr de Maiziere added: 'This step has become necessary. The great readiness to help that Germany has shown in recent weeks... must not be overstretched.' It is not yet clear exactly what the temporary measures include, but the move comes as German authorities have warned they are at 'the limit' in coping with the migrant crisis, with locals claiming Munich is on the brink of collapse" http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3232744/We-t-German-authorities-call-urgent-action-migrant-crisis-locals-say-Munich-brink-humanitarian-disaster.html#ixzz3le6Bm11A And it appears more Europeans don't agree we can take more "refugees" either- "Thousands of angry protesters took to the streets in Eastern Europe to voice their opposition to the influx of migrants into the region. 'Islam will be the death of Europe' chanted protesters at a rally in Warsaw, with the pre-dominantly Roman Catholic crowd reaching as many as 5,000 people. Hundreds of people also demonstrated in Prague and in the Slovak capital Bratislava, some holding banners reading: 'You're not welcome here so go home'." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3232763/After-years-Eastern-European-migrants-starting-new-lives-UK-s-turn-countries-complain-new-arrivals.html#ixzz3le9TxMbz
I did say I thought Angela had a funny look on her face. ... "Come one come all!" "Hang on a minute... There's F thousands of 'em?.. Nobody told me there'd be so many... Did they?... Errr... Ummm... Raise the borders?" This cluster-F has only just begun I fear. Angela's emotional grandstanding has guaranteed an increasingly massive flow.
Meanwhile in Saudi, the UAE, Kuwait Qatar, Oman, Bahrain etc. ... ... ... Nope. Not a sausage. Nada. Rien. Still F all. Nothing to report from those wealthy, large states. Again.
Gah...Folks advocating are the ones who live live apart from the avearage Joe. They rarely have ever felt the icy hand of crime because they live in areas not effected by poverty, immigrants or nutty religion. ..They don't have to worry about poor folk...They live in ivory towers, and spout goodness... They never have to live with the consequences of inviting people who believe that death is an appropriate response for leaving or insulting a religion. When crime hits them, they are the loudest to complain, and pull all the strings they can muster. Wonder what GS would do if he saw an armed, camo wearing intruder on his property (as KB has)...Would bet, GS has never encountered a threat directly to his home or family...Elites don't live like the rest of us...Times are a'changing though. Hopefully NZ will join the rest of the world soon, and feel our pain. See how the rhetoric changes then.
Also- not sure if anyone picked up Ljads post where the body was removed from where it was originally found, and placed in another location. Why?
News perhaps, but Oman is definitely not wealthy. Oman has a GDP (77,755 million USD) well less than that of New Zealand (198,118 million USD). The population of Oman is 3.5 million, compared to NZ's 4,5 million, so they are definitely not wealthy. I suppose it could depend on what your deinition of wealthy is, but if NZ is wealthy, then Australia must be Super Rich. Qatar has slightly more than NZ (210,002 million USD), but a population half the size, so they can be called wealthy. Those states are actually all (except UAE) fighting insurgencies, and/or terrorists, as well as dealing with sunni-shia divides to a larger degree than Europe. Radicals slipping in to the refugee stream will definitely have any easy time recruiting new miscreants in those states, than in Europe.
You would be dreadfully wrong then, wouldn't you? When you have a clue about the half of what my family and have experienced, you can leap in and make such pronouncements. Until then I'll kindly ask you to desist from such comments. Just because I have ZERO desire to share these experiences on this forum.
Not unless you tell me any different. Glad I could divert attention away from what the real topic is here.
So no fascist news links? "The (15) suspects, who are from the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Guinea, were among 105 migrants travelling in an inflatable boat that left Libya on Tuesday." So they weren't from the ME, but from mid-Africa. It would seem the other survivors witnessed against the perpetrators?
You're funny sometimes, GS. If you think decades of Wahabiism have really 'fought insurgency' of the kind that's causing all the trouble, I can't help thinking you're not quite on the same page as much of the security world on this score. The Wahabis thrive on the very divisions at the core of all this madness. It's practically a core tenet. I wouldn't even particularly criticise them for that, complex nasty business & their own game to play, but It's a bit odd to ignore it or try and paper over it. Claiming 'Oh, no, these people will cause too much trouble', as they have about everyone who doesn't 100% share their view for a long time, reads very much like the sort of 'Keep 'em out' rhetoric in Europe that discomfits you so much. One's OK, the other not, even though they're essentially saying the same thing? On the GDP diversion - how does Greece fair on that relative scale? Hungary? Romania? Not so well I'd guess. It's not relevant though, as I shot out some Gulf States from the hip I'm happy to be corrected in detail there - Look at the size & wealth of Saudi... no refugees. None. Sod all. Yemen's managing it - only just - why not Saudi? I know why not, and it isn't vague concerns about security. It's alright though, they've offered to build 200 mosques in Germany... so that's not their traditional levels of stirring at all. (I've a mate who was a senior UK diplomat in 'Former Yugoslavia' during the war - says they pulled the same game there and it's littered with low-attendance low-quality Saudi-sponsored Mosques now... More explainable as there was at least a Muslim population base there already but... Fanks Saudi! Really helpful! ).
The Muslims threw the Christians overboard. Or, were you trying to make it into a racial thing rather than religious persecution as reported?
You are aware that a large part of the propaganda generated by ISIS is Anti-Saudi? They critisize the KSA for not being strict enough. I know it seems bizarre, but the Saudis have been fighting Islamist terrorists since the siege of the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979. Yes, the Royal Family Sauds are reaping the whirlwind after taking power in the peninusula with the aid of the wahhabi's, and allowing them to spread their flavour of firebrand, and then living decadently for decades. Still, it doesn't make for a stable society. Syria under Assad was a secular state, so those that disagree with ISIS, probably don't want to go to KSA anyway. Not defending their actions or inactions: just pointing out one or two facts that may not be well known. Greece has been doing a fantastic job. No criticism of Greece from me. Romania is problematic, on many fronts.
Nope, but as the majority of ME immigrants are too lazy to get a job, I was wondering were they got the strength to throw a Christian overboard.
Of course, eg. Frank Gardiner's story (etc.) is hardly a hidden secret of Islamism, but that's a bit like saying 'ISIS doesn't like anyone but ISIS'. It doesn't explain or justify Saudi inaction or action. IS cries against 'The West' too... If we're to take that cry and threat seriously on all levels, then Europe genuinely would have just as much reason to cite insurgent/refugee potential issues as anyone else. Hard to say European fears on that are ungrounded while citing it as a justification for Saudi not offering direct humanitarian/accomodation help. Help that is apparently expected in Europe. Raise the double standard?
You may see it as a double standard. I see it as a far greater risk to the ME, than to Europe. We know these states are already fighting hard against the effect of ISIS propaganda in their own states; ISIS agitators are of course going to have an easier time recruiting new terrorists amongst millions of bored, disaffected, unemployed youth with little or no future prospects, than the smaller number of muslims in Europe. It's popular (and easy) to critisize KSA for a large number of issues, but we really do not want them to fall to ISIS. ISIS may try to terrorize Europeans, but there is little chance any European state will collapse in the next decade to Muslim fundamentalists. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2010.html
I honestly think it's rather sweeping to claim just how hard these chaps are really fighting 'extremism', if we define that extremism beyond the relatively new phenomenon of IS. Hardly obscure just how much funding of Salafism and it's associated naughty Jihadi baddies has been traced back to Saudi. They may find it easier to recruit directly in Islamic states (though they've had enough success in non-Islamic areas to generate concern), and have done over the years, but that doesn't negate the immediate threat some are concerned about - that most unnerving and unstoppable (without some serious luck) terrorist attack: the mad dog. Guns, Knives, crowds, explosions, whatever - the threat of such is hardly 'special' in a Muslim state. There is an equality in that form of attack, and the last few years have shown it can happen anywhere. Mumbai, Rigby, Charlie Hebdo etc. I'm not going to say for certain how many bad eggs come with the human tide of misery, but I do think it's legitimate to express some concern over it. It can't be easily dismissed and has to figure quite strongly somewhere in government responses. How you might vet so many... lord knows (French sources now reporting as many as 1M may try from Libya). I can't blame anyone for raising that particular flag of concern though - assuming such a fear is purely racist is potentially dangerous. Those in favour of the mass migration should perhaps also be considering it, and how to deal with it, if they don't want to polarise things even more than they already are.
