    Sorry Framert,

    just noticed this.

I meant with this ( Fuhrer HQ ) that it´d be very interesting to see how the emotions and atmosphere would change as total victory ( The Russian is dead ) turns into fear of a lost battle during the autumn 1941 period and how Hitler´s manners and attitude towards his generals would change!

In a morbid sense, I'd have loved to see the execution (and failure) of the Shlieffen (sp?) plan. Also, any three of the battles of attrition in WW1 (Somme, Verdun, Paschendale). And last but not least, I would have liked to see the Americans land and sweep up through southern Italy.

    Good choices all. ;)

Just to answer some spelling doubts:

    </font>
    • Mogadishu</font>
    • Chapultepec</font>
    • Schlieffen Plan</font>
Another good one would be Colenso. [IMG]

I think i'd have to add two more battles to my current list.

Kursk, and the Battle for the Seelowe Heights.

    Me too.
I'd add the Battle of the Boyne,1st July 1690 between William III, Prince of Orange, and James II. This battle was pivotal to British history, and could have gone either way. Because they added 11 days to the calendar in the 18th century to bring Britain in line with Europe, it's now (erroneously) celebrated as the 12th July.
I'd also add Bannockburn, 23/24th June 1314, not least because I actually live on the battlefield.

    Regards,
    Gordon

    Bannockburn! Good one! ;)

And now that we're talking about Scotland, why not Culloden too? :D [IMG]

    Freddie,
    I didn't want to be greedy! :D ;) [IMG]
And there's always Nechtansmere in 685, where the Pictish king Bridei killed his Saxon cousin Ecgfrith, and stopped Northumbrian expansion into Scotland for good.

    Regards,

    Gordon

A good one for me would be Konnigratz in 1866. Probably the biggest battle prior to WW1. Has to be seen.

STEFAN! I'm appalled you could reply to this thread without saying the Glorious Glosters and the Battle of the Imjin River, Korea 1951.
