yes we were aiding the French via consultants as we have been in secret with Israel since the 50's after the 48 take back of their land. Except .......... nope I'm not going there for personal reasons

Erich by the time that U.S. got involved in Vietnam the French had already lost there was nothing to help with. And even with the help that you say the U.S. gave it obviously wasnt much because nothing was achieved and resulted in a withdrawl.

Yes i know that U.S. helped Israel in 48 and so on thats not a secret! lol who else is going to help Israel if not the U.S.

Of course not, in fact I made no personal remarks at all in my reply.

Indeed I don't, but my reply had nothing to do with your service in the US forces
I am sorry you were treated that way Erich, the people who did that should be ashamed of themselves.
He's where we disagree. the French don't owe you a thing over Vietnam. By the time the US got involved militarly in Vietnam, the French had signed a peace treaty with Viet Cong, and left the country. The French had no longer any interest in Vietnam, when the first members of the US army took up positions as military advisers to the South Vietnamese army

Red I accept you comments along with Slon. Oh how I wish I could tell you guys more about back in the late 60's-early 1970's behind the scenes.

we were there unfortunatly with the French before the so-called peace treaty, deeply imbedded. Believe it or not we were or should say some of us had excellent jungle training just not the Viet's.

Remember the book one shot, one kill by the Marine sniper some years ago.......well let your minds wander. We did not belong to any of the armed forces and for good reason

I have to chime in that the French still make excellent weapons to sell to the rest of the world. Their aircraft sell well, even the US Coast Guard uses many of them. The US and British should remember how well the Exocet worked on their ships !

The IAF won the 6 day war with French aircraft in 1967.

Erich you should give us a "fictional" account of what happened,in a way to protect you from any problems, as if you don't have enough. [IMG]

I would love to hear the truth about Viet Nam for a change.

well Ta I have thought about it, but will let me CO die and some of my superiors before I tackle that. The missions we did are so finely integrated, the name is secret, the missions are unknown. We did search and destroy continually and to answer your last part of your question I have only one part in a great and very confusing engagement and that is how I term it from my Nam days. My brother in-law has another as a Med. Navy corpmen with the Marines, he was wounded by a trip line bomb and received intense shrapnel from the explosive as well as debris and sadly bones/tissue from the deceased he was hauling out of there. Nearly every day when he wakes up from bed thier is small almost minute pieces of steel on the bedsheets his body is still kicking this stuff out. also he enver talks of the days and his medals are safely hidden from family and friends. guess we that lived to see those days are all bunched up in the same sphere and with so many that have given up hope and committed suicide or are serving jail time. Sorry I am getting quite off topic

OK I found this thread and I understand many things about this forum now...

USA saving France's ass in Vietnam ROFL

France's ass had already beeen spanked to death and burried there since 1954...USA took its turn later on

Ah ! and the assassination of Diem was probably a French idea LOL

as per Richard's very smart comments on page 2... France attacking Iran is a fantasy. Anyway, Iran would be a tough opponent for France, even tougher than mighty Argentina I've been told :D

back on thread's subject : this kind of negationism is a scandal, anyway, in some countries like Iran or Syria for example, antisemitism is taught in school...it will take time until this burning hate cools down
