My father was working in the Ft MacLeod Alberta Government Telephones central station. Working on wiring new numbers, listening to the radio in the office when programming was interrupted by the news. ..Said he became very upset, and soon the whole town became aware...Probably the most emotional political event of his life, and we are Canadian...
Thinking it's important to have folks who disagree. Exchanging ideas and theories is a part of learning. Hard to read in between the lines...It would make for a very boring website if everyone agreed on everything here.

    It's bloody football!!:p

If Kennedy had been the only president ever assassinated, I could see the point of conspiracy theories. Given that three were murdered before him, and God knows how many almost assassinated after him, why is this the only presidential murder some people get obsessed with?!

I am not addressing the person, I'm addressing the issues, and the fabrications, distortions, and outright lies that go with the issues.

CTs are never about the events they discuss, that's just a means to an end. The end, in this case, is to slander certain people and/or groups. This hidden agenda is what renders CTers oblivious to facts, they just don't care, that's not why they're here.

I must disagree with the notion that Roger Craig's efforts to get his story across were 'silly'. Craig, after surviving an attempt on his life, (unprosecuted to date), was virtually run out of town, with Garrison more than proving Department Chief Will Fritz as a congenital liar for suggesting Craig was not anywhere near the Offices of the Dallas Police Department, or at Dealy Plaza.

When a Deputy Sherrif has eyeballed Oswald climbing into the same Nash Rambler Station wagon observed in the railway carpark by Lee Bowers, you start to think somebody wanted Craig's recollections out of the loop.

As for Julia Anne Mercer, the person who identified Jack Ruby before he shot Oswald, to call this "silly' as well is a real case of the gentle rustle of wool being drwn down over the eyes of the nation. Furthermore, Mercer spotted Ruby sitting in a pick-up truck, whilst another man unloaded weapons at the tripple-underpass.

When you simply fob off a story like that, something is rotten in the State of Denmark.

That's not even what she said. She actually said that some time before the motorcade arrived, she saw a man get out of pickup truck with a "case" (not a weapon). Could that case have contained a firearm? Perhaps, but since Kennedy was shot from the rear what does it matter?

    Why keep trawling up Kennedy?

because all this stuff never went to a proper trial in a proper court of law with independence of the judiciary in mind.

If you simply believe people like Jack Ruby, then you are as guilty as Garrison of ignorance of suspicious circumstances. Jack Ruby was the one man that could have made things plain for all to see. His presense at the Offices of the Dallas Police Department is no lie, an noone has ever come forward to explain exactly why Ruby was there at all. A known mob figure, with a failing nightclub and an early 'career' association with other undesirables like Al Capone, all tag Ruby as something a whole lot more than just a concerned citizen, "sparing Jackie Kennedy."

That was the most outrageous lie of the entire story, and it was glossed over in true fashion.

When someone can explain what Jack Ruby was doing at the Dallas Police Department, and just who got him to bump off a man before he had a chance to reach a judicial room of true independence, when you can explain that, then you may be getting somewhere.

For the present, all this mud-slinging concerning credibility is just more smoke for the fire, obscuring the real issues that people should be investigating, rather than the characters of people like Earl Warren, or Garrison, or Oswald for that matter.

Oswald passing a nitrate test that determined he had not fired a weapon of any description in the previous twenty four hours, alone, would have been enough to torpedo the government's chance of bringing his trial to court.

You guys can play the man....I'm going to continue to ask the questions.

Explain Ruby, and explain the nitrate results, and you may be getting somewhere.

Ruby went to the Western Union office to transfer money to a stripper he knew in another state. The Western Union office is across the street from the police department. The phone calls between the stripper and Ruby that morning are on record. The money transfer to her is on record, just a few minutes before the shooting.

Why did Ruby shoot him? Who knows? Ruby was not a stable man so his reasons would not make much sense to anyone but him. Any conspirators would definitely avoid a loose cannon like Ruby, and stay even further away from a broke stripper in another state asking Ruby for money. That's not how conspiracies work - you don't get broke strippers involved because those are known as a "weak links."

If somebody shot Obama tomorrow and they perp-walked the culprit through a crowd there is no doubt in my mind that somebody would take a shot at the suspect. This is America and people have guns. There is always a chance that some loser with a gun wants to be famous.

Oh, and do you want to know how to pass a "nitrate test?" Wash your hands...

It's a shame, but maybe that should happen....

The spirit of the thread was inquisitive, not polarizing. My original post was maybe too opinionated, but to this day I see too may holes in the official reports and too many "it was only" stories backing up these reports. But that's just my opinion. I don't think I can be called a CT or an insurgent. Just a simple tax paying citizen that loves his country !

Earlier this month over 121 million people voted for the President in the USA. President Obama was selected with 50.3% of the vote and of course the majority won, but 47.8% disagreed. Being a great democracy ALL citizens accepted the rules of the land and welcomed our re-elected president. That's how we Americans are. We take everything in stride and we continue on.

This tragic event, the JFK Assassination, was a very dark spot in a very dark part of our history. To this day opinions are divided and speculations still strong. From what I can tell this event has us and our friends from all over the world still pursuing answers as to WHY and HOW this could possibly happen....

We'll always be divided on this topic so maybe it's time to move on....

Golly....now we are going to question Ruby's sanity?

Is that the best way to destroy the writings or public pronouncements of people....by simply calling them 'nuts' and moving on?

What a terrible lot of lies the United state of america has gotten itself into.

And, people don't just shoot other people to become famous....well not normally.

Jack Ruby, while a hot-head, still had no justification that he was willing to impart. So, suspiciously, you must come to the conclusion he was hiding something other than supplying strippers with money. Thats no reason for secrecy, not for a nightclub owner.

    Skipper, it was inevitable.

We have all kept this debate more than civil...so what's your problem?

A site devoted to America and history is going to have to field questions on this particular subject sometime, somehow.

If you want to flush such unabashed patriotism from all concerned down the latrine, be my guest. It will just make this site look like a right-wing cabal rather than a public forum.

So, be my guest. We were argueing without slagging one another off, so no harm done. Opana still has my respect, so does Browndirt, and the others. So, who's been harmed?

Uh....nitrate testing uncovers powder, sulphur based....doesn't ALL wash off. thats why it's admissable evidence in a court of law, because simply 'washing' won't get all of it off.

Further, you test all parts of the body, like cheeks of the face, hair, and eyelashes/eye sockets, parts of the body that don't get washed normall for days on end.

    Steve,

There is never any harm in asking a honest question
    .

Gordon asks why we view the JFK assassination differently than the previous 3 successful Presidential killings.

I suspect that, though we didn't know it at the time, a period of innocence was coming to a close. Civil Rights, Vietnam, the murders of RFK and MLK, Counter culture, Dirty tricks in latin America and in Washington D.C. would shatter the comforting cocoon that every thing was alright in America. The self satisfied glow we held so dear after victory in the "Good War" and the prosperity that followed was soon tarnished and we began to doubt our specialness.

Kennedy and 'Camelot' seemed so magical that its end had to have come from some vast, yet unseen menace
, an act of God or Lucifer, not some lone, unstable man. Surely mighty America could never be laid low by an insignificant spec of humanity. We reveled in the majesty of Camelot, yet forgot it too had its dark, unspeakable side, lust, lies and betrayal.

We have made a martyr of John F. Kennedy in his untimely death. When he was alive we could still deceive ourselves that all was well and would remain so. Kennedy might have been touched with greatness, but We could not accept that our fallen Adonis was a very human and very flawed man as well.

    Further explaination regarding Ruby...

Here is a list of people, witnesses who had some knowledge of Ruby's criminal background...all of them dead under suspicious circumstances....

    Warren Reynolds....Betty M. Macdonald...Hank Killam....Bill Hunter....Teresa Norton....Jim Koethe...Johnny Rosselli...Sam Giancana....Jimmy Hoffa.....David Ferrie... Eladio del Valle....Dave Yara...George de Morenschildt...Carlos Prio...Charles Nicoletti...William Sullivan...William Pawley.

Too many 'hits' there to be pure coincidence. It was dangerous, indeed, to punlically state anything about Ruby....how suspicious is that?

There are nuts all around us. More to the point, would a vast and powerful conspiracy enlist a broke stripper to give Ruby an excuse to be at the police station in Dallas at the moment Oswald was being transferred? How many dozens of unstable characters do you trust to put together a conspiracy like this? It's a conspiracy, it's supposed to remain a secret, remember?

How suspicious are these deaths? Most of them are underworld characters who died of everything from gunshots to drug overdoses to heart attacks. Nothing suspicious there, particularly when hundreds of other people are still alive.

    All human beings have flaws.

the problem is, we put certain of them up on pedestals, so our righteous indignation is five times as strong when those illusions turn out to be unfounded, or just plain lies.

"Kennedy in Camelot" was a myth. That needed to be demythologized. We had built JFK up as a man of respect and substance, a war hero from a family known as 'good people'. It was a myth as well, so when it all unravelled and people began to ask questions, why on earth should this be something we are ashamed of?

Without people who ask questions, it follows that change of any description just does not happen. That would be a crime of itself.

If laws were not made to be changed, America would still be putting 'witches' to death. Change can be painful, as Mr.Obama is discovering at this very time.

MOST of these characters? George de Morenschildt, an underworld figure? Hardly.

As to the other underworld figures? All except for William Sullivan were 'hit' after being contacted by the House Select Committee...get the drift. The others were reporters, or had something to do with Ruby or Oswald in the earlier days...

Too many witnesses in this case seem to die unnatural deaths. That should be cause for concern, right off the bat. "Tombstone Politics" is a better description.

Skipper, were you old enough to be in Dallas on November 22nd 1963?

You objective of flushing this thread away is contributing to the conspiratorial cover-up of this topic as a whole. Maybe we should start investigating YOU! :)
