    Update time :p

I was outbid on the full uniform, the one with the HUMONGIOUS jacket by... £1!!

To be honest I think the guy that beat me did me a favour lol.
Just need to find No. 1 trousers and a cap. But since the jacket has SGt. stripes I would only need a forage cap (I do hope that's the right term)

I may have found the trousers but I don't think there No. 1's could be No. 2's so that's no good :( and the cap... cheapest is £20 and i think it's reproduction :(

I've enclosed 2 pictures of the trousers. One is the original posted picture, the other I have used photoshop to correct the image for bad lighting. In theory the corrected image should be the true image.. which coincidently looks like No. 1's :p

I know I keep bombarding you with questions but google doesnt really seam to be my friend at the moment. I know we talked about Sgt's wearing cap's, well I have found a cap, it's current issue but under the time constraints I think it's the best I'm going to do. Just needs kings crown not queens crown badge.

Would you think this would be ok?

RAF CURRANT ISSUE CAP SIZE 55cm on eBay (end time 25-Oct-10 23:14:18 BST)

I think all the ww2 ones were a cloth covered peak rather than shiny - other than that and the cap badge it is pretty close. with that one you would need to shape it before it looked 'good' (hold it over a kettle spout until the top part becomes halfway between moist and wet, then wrap a strip of toilet paper around it tightly 5 or 10 times from the ears position over the top and under so the sides of the top crown are folded down equally each side. then leave overnight in an airing cupboard)

Thank you, that reminds me of the bucket of cold and bucket of warm water technique when I shaped my ATC beret :p

I just came across this when looking about shiny peak's, looks very useful.

Must admit when it comes to peak's I can find no definitive, plus I can always say, for now anyway, that "Stores are a bit all over the place, there is a war on you know" :)

*EDIT* In the end I went for this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220682187996&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I know I've said it before but I'm going to say it again... Thank you :)

Going to a surplus store Wed's if I can;t find trousers, possibly need a belt for the jacket too... grrr

nice pdf - think he pretty much says it all :)

personally I have to say the forage cap is much more 'period' in my own mind, and gives a lot more leeway on the other details.

Absolutely I couldn't agree more, and for re-enactment and for 1940's weekend I will most definitely invest in one, but under the pressure I am to have a full No. 1 dress that pretty much matches the period... I think I'm doing well :p

Here's hoping it all comes together by Thursday otherwise I'm not going to have any trousers... and that's...just odd :p .... Unless I went as a striper ??? LMAO!!!!

if in doubt say you are depicting the victim of an air raid - they often had clothing blown off at random :)

You know that's a lot better than my idea.

The Jacket and Tie arrived today.

Tie is a standard military black tie, feels woollen but not like a jumper :p

The jacket fits like a glove, but strangely has no belt nor hooks for a belt o_O

    Enclosed is a few pictures.

Hopefully I will be able to help people the way you've helped me out one day :)
