    Greetings Kiwi Ace -

No, unfortunately, the RK's are not real. They are museum grade copies that I picked up over the years. However, these are the only items in the Iron Cross/Knights Cross series of mine that are museum copies.

What I do have going on however, and should be completed soon, is the display on two of my RK winner tunics, that being the tunic on the left in picture one, and the tropical Generalleutnant uniform tunic, becoming converted over to the wearing of an original EK II as a field worn RK. This was in fact done on numerous occaisions on all fronts to protect the esteemed actual RK from becoming lost or damaged.

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    Be good to each other.

    Bill

    Greetings Sam!

Sam, glad to see that you have become a member of this forum. I signed up last month at the suggestion of Carl Evans, and it seems as if these gents are quite a good lot of folks sincerely interested in, and the sharing of all sorts of history on World War II amongst other subjects.

I think that you will find that you will have a much better reception here than the one you had looked in to and considered, but declined to join over at the WADF.

I won't say that one might not be sharing a difference of opinion here and there, and one might not give the correct information at times, ( I doffed the question on what the First and Second German Reich's were, but so far, they have not boiled me in oil over it! ), but so far, the experience I have had here is a good one.

Gentlemen, may I ask that Sam be welcomed here. He is a great individual, a serious militaria collector, and all around great one to have as a member. Welcome Sam.

Concerning the collection Sam, yes, I would love to have you be able to see it first hand. Perhaps we might be able to get together soon, and hoist a couple of Bitburger or Groelsch beers while reviewing it. Of course, on the reality side of things, it might wind down to being Coca-Cola in a large glass over ice! :>)

But thank you for your comments concerning the collection.

    Respectfully,

    Bill

Hi Bill--I meant the tunic in pic nr.5 the one with the Pith helmet next to the tropical Luftwaffe tunic that has the overseas cap on.

The tunic in i'm blabbing on is the one behind the Flight Sergeants tunic. [IMG] The tunic with the White Collar Tabs. [IMG]

Oops--I just saw what got confused from my posting on the tunic. I posted that it was a Herman Goring (panzer Div tunic) I wasn't mentioning the Heer Panzer tunic. [IMG]

Hello Sam, and welcome to these forums. I'm feeling much better now that we have a growing collector community as well--thanks to the great additions of you and Bill. [IMG]

    Greetings all -

I have just returned this evening from a fantastic militaria show that was held in Portland, Oregon. There was much to see, too much to purchase, and I was able to meet forum member Sam Goody in person, albeit he was not feeling his best, he was able to visit for a brief while, and Sam, I wish you a speedy recovery from your illness. May it only be for a brief while.

For those of you interested in what I just might have purchased, I was able to sell a CE Junckers Spanish Cross In Bronze and turn this profit in to a very nice cased EK I with case for one example of a Deumer manufactured award. Very nice. I will attempt to get photographs of it soon, and ask Volkbert if he would be willing to post them for me, but, give me a few days as tomorrow I have distinguished guests visiting and wishing to see the collection. I was also able to purchase a very rare and hard to obtain tropical officer belt with buckle, and an Army pattern first pattern cloth pith helmet, which, although not mint, in fairly good condition and worth bringing home.

    Carl -

As to your question. The tunic with the white collar tabs is a tropical Luftwaffe, private purchase tropical tunic. White collar tabs were used by generals to indicate their rank more so than their branch, which is nice as I can use this tunic in exhibits for anything from medical to flight. Also, the Luftwaffe pith helmet being placed upon the top of this display is the tougher to locate Luftwaffe green cloth pattern. The only example more difficult to locate is the Luftwaffe blue pattern.

    Hope this helps.

    Bill

Hi Bill--thank you very much and it does help. I had completely forgotten that Lw Generals had white Collar Tabs. I should have remembered to look at the pics I have of Gen (I can't think of his name at the moment--forgive my ignorance--Hitler said he was one of his two most sinister looking Generals)--as you can see his in them.

I'll save my pennies Carl......I've got another two books to secure and that is it unless something marvelous gets published. Plus saving the funds to publish our own tidbits. Yep Bill will crack up or I should say everyone would if they could see the two of us together......that weird, red haired hippee from southern Oregon along with a more astute looking person with the "big" collection ! ;) :D

    EB......hmmmmm EK 2 please ! (smiling)
