I think that is the number one reason I'd never leave the states.

You know, this reminds me of something. About 10 years ago, when I was still working as a C.O for the State of Texas, a co-worker of mine happened to need a ride with us regular carpoolers-and they always gathered at my apartment complex to park their cars while we all gathered into one to take to work.

Well, this idiot made his way to my pace first (all the other regulars already knew I liked collecting German stuff and all had seem my collections of stuff, most proudly displayed for all to se-even my nasty nazi party flag-which was folded neatly and placed on top of my tower stereo amd had a medal and awards display on it and some boards and tabs too.

Well, this guy was retired from the Army and when he walked into MY residence-he asked what all that stuff was that had on display? I told him it was most o fmy WWII German Militaria. He then said, why didnt I have anything American on display and why was everything I had displayed-all with swazes on them?

I told him that I ONLY collected German, had no interest in American, and that I was the one who worked to earn and save the money to buy this stuff to begin with and I said that if he wanted me to buy American stuff? that he had to give me the money to do so and I then added that since he would not give me the money to buy American, to shut his yap about my collection. I ended with something like: if he didnt like my stuff? he didnt need to be in my home either. Needless to say, he shut his yap and never complained about what I wanted to spend MY money on.

Sorry you had to go through all the hassle, Ray. Different attitudes & laws for different countries, but I am glad that I don't have to deal with such.

When you say that you were arrested, does that man that they put cuffs on you?

Do they have to have a warrant, signed by a judge, to search your home, or can they just show up and rifle (no pun intended) through your belongings?

Dont know how it is in the UK, but over here as an gun owner you have less rights than a criminal. They can come anytime they want to have a look on your guns and all without an judge´s warrant!!! Thats real democracy!

    Regards

Ya some laws are just weird.....here in good old Ireland if your a farmer there's no problem in you having a shotgun/certain rifles

.....but if your not a farmer beware,... "that sharp stick looks dangerous, nope you can't have that stick"

I would be a bit angry at whoever reported them on you Ray. At the same time, I wouldn't have minded being one of the officers who got to fiddle a bit and check them.:D

Cheers Skipper, thank you and Ray as well.

Heh heh, I HAD to put the guy in his place. Normally I have the fullest respect for anyone who served, but you have to know this guy to see why I also reacted the way I did. I had the unfortunate displeasure of having to work with the guy. He was and still is, the most incompetent person I ever met. heck, if he was a cartoon character? he would be much worse than Beetle Bailey ;-))

Heh heh, aftre saying my piece, I did feel good abot it. I thought on it and it was ponly his way of trying to embarass me about collecting those "evil-nasty-things-with-nazi-markins-on-them".
