That glazed nose looks like a french Bloch but the cowlings don't look right for a 174 so my guess would be the P&W engined 176.
Italian Cant Z 1018 ? probably not but looks similar or some sort of variant of it. That a/c has to be post war its not in this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_aircraft_production_1935_to_1945
I should have recognized that color as italian the only big gunners I know of from the Regia where the Piaggio 108 "Artigliere" (but it's in the B17 size class so larger than the plane depicted) and the AS 14 derivative of the CMASA RS 14 floatplane that had a glazed nose similar to that shown so it would be my guess. The only pic of the AS 14 I found http://www.aereimilitari.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=9344 is so heavily retouched as to be completely unreliable. The 37mm Z1018 was never built AFAIK.
My entry I think is the one that is up for the quiz so far LOL.. And amazingly enough the Big Gun question has come up before LOL. Lots of info here on large aircraft cannon. Especially the Piaggio 108 "Artigliere". http://www.ww2f.com/information-requests/23112-largest-gun-ww2-aircraft.html
The Italians had several aircraft with large cannons. This one has two engines and the builder is still in business today building cars of questionable repute. This should narrow down your search alot plus when you answer the question I will show you the great web page I got it from.
Now you have me utterly confused, did you notice my mention of FIAT CMASA RS 14 in post #462 ? BTW if it's that you have contributed to setting right a small aviation mistery (see link in post #462 which is apparently from a relative of the plane's pilot).
The above is listed in your source, but the article is vestigial only. It's a Fiat Fc 20 CANSA ! How could I know it was in Congo, eh? ------------- Right, so here we go. A two part question: 1) what; 2) belonging to whom?
We have a double winner ! :eek More about my aircraft and other cool pictures http://images.google.com/imgres?img...+aircraft,+post+war&gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&sa=G
Odd looking wing arrangement. Usually they put the short wing on the bottom and the long wing on top.
Ah, yes, glad you noticed it, this makes the bird a rara avis... Kenya? Well, this certainly is "Out of Africa"
