Correct, I have it as a T-38, built in floating capability allows you to do things a more normal design cannot, having armour support immedately after an extemporised river crossing or airlanding can be a big tactical advantage. The soviets insisted in anphbious capability with the post war PT-76 light tank so they obviously thought it worthwile. Wouldn't try to use either as an MBT though.

woooo got one right, though TOS the armour being that small cant rifles penertrate that small thickness? because if rifles can penertrate it ...kinda ruins the point of the vehicle in the first place lol

The one in the back looks an Ausf N so the picture is taken at the end of the Pz III carreer. From the 01 it's likely to be a command tank but no radio antennas are visible. The narrow gunshield and vision port in turret front are not standard for the 50/L60 Pz III so Panzerbefehlswagen IIIK .

Think the prototype in the picture was called a Panhard 201 and AM 40-P was to be the designation of the production vehicles.
So we are not using the same sources, mine states the prototype was taken to North Africa so as not to leave it in German hands and was "misteriously" lost, there may be a story there but can't find anything more. The post-war EBR clearly traces it's ancestry to this one.

BTW I also use the chars-francais.net site as primary reference for French AFVs but the pic was from an old book.

It looks pretty close to the A6 Medium Tank Series, maybe a British A6 MkIII?

It is a between the wars model but not the A6. The A6 had two MG turrets in front this one has one in front and another at the rear (the rear one's gun is not visible in the photo but the turret is).

I still need an answer for post 712

It's a prototype but shouldn't be too difficult, not that many multiturretted designs around ........ ;)
