M4? It looks like the return rollers are above not to the rear of the suspension units.

Let's see if we can tempt some panzer lovers to jump in. I usally avoid posting big pictures but as a fomer modeller I feel downsizing the details of this one would be a crime, it almost got me running to the nearest model shop after 15 years .....

Obviously a Panther but a very special one, what is it exactly?

PS: The software resized it a bit but most detals are still perfectly reconizable

    Hello T.O.S,

not sure, but I think it is just a common Panther G.

It is just the Infrarot-Fahr- und Zielgerät FG 1250 (Infrared seeker) that makes it special.?
I recall, maybe I am wrong - that also other German vehicles where equipt with this infrared system, in conjunction with a 60-cm-IR-beam "Uhu" mounted onto the SdKfz.251.

    Regards

You are correct, AFAIK the Sperber equiped tanks were called Natchkampfpanther and that's the answer I was looking for. According to my info the equipment was reported as capable of illuminating a target up to 400 meters and only required the support of the "Uhu" at longer ranges. I wander what was placed in the hull MG position the thing comming out of it looks like an electrical wire .....

I know of some Sdkfz 251/20 with a FG 1252 / FG 1250 combination but I don't know of other vehicles.

    Your turn

    Hello T.O.S,

the Zielgerät FG 1250 was termed "Sperber" hence the weaponsystem was called "Solution A, Sperber" - a Nachtkampfpanzer might have been some soldier slogan but it was not an official designation.

The Sperber range was around 400-500m and during training missions hits at up to 2500m where recorder using the added Uhu system on SdKfz. 251.

The AFV Sdkfz 251 who supported night missions, mounted the FG 1250 and were termed "Falke"

I might be mistaken, but I thought of recalling photos of a Puma 75mm mounting a Sperber.

You are right, there seems to be some kind of wiring - maybe an electrical grounding divice?

Please feel free to post another interesting photo

    Regards
    Kruska

I thought the Sdkfz 251D/1 (he basic APC model) with the IR equipment was a Falke while the one with the big IR projector a 251D/20 Uhu.

Then I came across this and the writing looks like a factory marking ..... mislabeling or fake?

I'm thinking that the second turret is mostly hidden in this picture. But we'll see. :)

M2A2 should be correct. The picture was labeled Company D 192Tk batallion in october 1941. I think the apparently strange shape of the turret is actually part of the left side turret showing.

The MG port is missing from it. That's what threw me off.

    I guess it's my turn.

This one was actually created during World War II.

New Zealand's Schofield Wheel and Track Tank. It's missing the front wheels.

I think it's more of an armored car than a light tank.

    Now...what could this be?

If I'm not mistaken, that would be New Zealand's Bob Semple tank. Gotta love the corrugated iron!
