Nope, the quote for Hanover Street would be "Why is that American B-25 flying missions out of England?" The "starring" aircraft in this movie did operate where depicted, although as noted the story is fiction.
I thought this was a fairly well-known movie. In fact elements of it have appeared, directly or indirectly, in at least two other movies.
Correct! James Garner's navigator gets married, then is badly burned on their next mission. Being the happily married guy in a war movie is like wearing the red shirt on Star Trek.
You must mean Cliff Robertson's navigator. You are right about the happily married man and the red shirt theory. It's about the same as the guy who's orders arrived and who is supposed to go home or transfer stateside. Definitely a dead man there. Waiting on you Brad. The bar has been raised.
That was odd....I just read this, then flipped on the TV while folding laundry, and while flipping through the Guide, found "633 Squadron". Gotta love those old Mossies!
Right on Robertson, thanks, A-58. For some reason TV listings have a hard time with the name, I've seen it listed as 636 Squadron and 663.
