I would say let 'em go, and good riddance, but I wouldn't wish that sort of idiocy on any country.

Ya know why we get so worked up over the Westboro Non-Baptist Non-Church? Because they get air time that they should not. I'm not suggesting that we ignore them and they go away. That is not likely. However, we should treat them like the fools who run out onto the field at a sports event and not show their antics for all to see. If nothing else, report on various ways to stop them, such as the small town in Mississippi was reported to have done earlier in the year.

Everyone who has not been under a rock for the past 10 years who those eejets are. Quite frankly, I am appalled that it may be thought by some that I share even the remotest of beliefs with them, simply because the church I worship in shares some common words in our names.

Too many crazies, not enough time for them all. The Norway idiot and the WBC exhaust my patience.

Jeff, I don't begin to equate the WBC with you because I consider them beneath my contempt. You seem to be a believer who understands that others may disagree with his faith. The WBC does not, whatever their name.

Things have quieted down somewhat in Norway. Now the big thing is what the police did and did not do - and why they did it......

    Latest news:
Behring Breivik has been declared criminally insane. The psychologists conclude that he has developed paranoid schizophrenia over a long period of time thus making him the person he is today. This mental illness has symptoms such as delusions of greatness and persecution resulting in a drastic change of personality.

This conclusion will be followed up by a further nine specialists to ensure the quality of the report. This news will however yield minor consequence for the main negotiations. Behring Breivik must be declared guilty of his actions at the Ministry of Government and the murders at Utøya Island in order for the courts to transfer him to forced mental health care [also known as “lifetime” in Norway, seeing as though you have to be declared “not a threat to society” in order to be released].

The trial against ABB will start on April 16 next year.

One bullet. Costs a whole lot less than court fees, medications, hospital bills...all of which will come from the taxpayer. Yeah. Bullets are cheaper.

Hopefully declaring him dangerously insane will ensure he never gets out, unlikely any psychologist will ever declare him "not a threat to society", a much better outcome than having him on the loose in 21 years.
Yea a bullet is cheaper but a lot less civilized, IMO not killing the "unrecoverable to society" is a good thing, provided you can afford it, once you allow exceptions to "you shall not kill" it's very difficult to know where to stop.

I just find it hard to dredge up much compassion for a guy who had the foresight and intelligence to plan, then build, a car bomb, lay out a timetable for planting the bomb and having it go off, then in the resulting chaos and confusion go off on a shooting spree on an island occupied by unarmed kids and adults. That whole episode, to me, shows a bit of thought, not a random act of insanity. I've seen too many stories about someone who decided they didn't like their kids/marriage/job anymore, so they went on a killing spree, only to go with the "temporary insanity" plea and skate out of the death penalty. In my opinion, a civilized society punishes the crime, not make excuses and feel sorry for the one perpetrating the crime. Again, though, this is just my opinion, which is usually barely worth the paper its printed on. LOL

Dont think its compassion mate..Its law. All countries abide by those made in reference or regard to their own voters and citizens.

Heh. Yeah, I know. And in 99% of the cases, I'd say the law rules. Sometimes I just get p!ssed when someone pulls something like this and then they throw the "insanity" flag to get the guy off. Shooting at defenseless kids is one of the things that I have a hard time forgiving, especially since I've had one of my own.

Each time there are mass killings by gun, I am sorry there was no armed individuals who could shoot back...I hope one day there will be enough armed people to protect themselves. I would also encourage the clergy of all convictions to make it a point to regularly point out the many religious fallacies of this kind of action and thinking. Please.....make the request from your clergy or for any groups you may belong to. Nine of the world's major religions contain within their script some form of the Golden Rule and this clearly violates the precepts. But it seems only the mis-guided get their ways spread around.....the rest of us need to do more to strongly establish what is moral and acceptable, instead of a silent surrender to foolishness and the worship of self.

The cops made one mistake when they arrested him : they caught him alive. They should have shot him period. Now it's too late and those who are his vitims will now pay for his cure with their tax money....
