Well, my foremost thought verges on that...

Maybe the Australians should at last deal with the thorny issue of who actually owns any selected ground for such a project before planning on using it...?

Actually in the NT one aboriginal tribe offered of a section of there land for such a disposal site.

But even then when the traditional land owners give us permission still have one mob not even related jumping up and down...

    Wikipedia:

"As Aboriginal Freehold land it is inalienable communal title, and cannot be bought or sold."

"A parliamentary inquiry and media reports indicated that the Indigenous traditional owners of Muckaty Station were divided over whether it should host a radioactive waste facility. Some members of the Ngapa clan supported hosting the facility, while other traditional owners of Muckaty opposed it."

"Now some members of one of those clans have agreed to allow Australia's first national waste dump to be established on 1.5 square kilometres of land they claim is theirs in return for $12 million, most of it in cash.

The terms of the agreement remain secret - even some members of the Ngapa clan who might get the money have not been given a copy."
