Wanted to put this in the Oly thread. But it would probably end up here.
Obama said- "To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.".

Egyptian refuses to shake Israeli's hand in Judo match.

There was also another report of Israeli's being refused entry onto a bus headed for a ceremony by the Lebanese.

That was their goalie, Hope Solo, not the whole team. It was an immature rant on Solo's part. She was trying to deflect from the fact that the US team didn't do what they needed to in order to win.

As for the Egyptian judoist and the Lebanese, that's sort of a "dog bites man" story. Nothing new here. I do like the optimism of the IJF:

Taking the quote out of context, it is odd to read that it is "a big improvement that Arabic countries accept to fight Israel". I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

The Egyptian got beaten and wasn't man enough to acknowledge that he was not good enough. He is a pussy, though.

No. No one can win a judo match when you are always trying not to touch your opponent.

The hand shake I really don't care about. It nice to do so, but in a sport where the competitor was trying to throw you onto your skull or break your arm, I don't mind if a fighter doesn't shake hands.

However, he did refuse to bow after the match, which is disrespectful to the sport and disgraceful to your nation. The bows, both before and after each match, are an expected and mandated part of the sport. Not doing this is disrespectful to all judo players and should have been in the title of the article, not the handshake. The sport of judo includes the bow in its rules, so not participating in this is willfully turning your back on something you signed up to do when you went to the Olympics.

The Egyption judoka wasn't reprimanded for not shaking hands, the International Judo Federation has no jurisdiction on that. They reprimanded him for not bowing, for which they have clear rules and expectations with which he didn't comply.

Here abouts, a handshake is a contract/ peace offering/ your word.
    Guess im old.
i will give a slight bow to those who i respect.
Have i not shook hands after a (schoolyard) fight- yup.
Never have i refused to shake after a sporting event.

That a certain religion refuses to enter the 21st century, is disconcerting. ..that they bring their heavy baggage to the Olympics is a modern day tragedy.
Don't get me started on the he/she that is ibtihaj muhammed- the US funded athlete who hates America.

In a way, happy that he she is competing in womens fencing. ..The feminists/left have created this.
He she should be competing with the men. But, lets let the women hash it out.
