Putin just recently claimed that the Ukraine Army is a foreign legion of EU soldiers. Also the separatists broke the peace treaty and said publicly they will start a major offensive operation. If that is not aggressive bs then what is?
Putin has said there are no Russian Army troops in Ukraine. Even Lavrov has said that. So why are we publicly talking about Putin fighting in Ukraine because he does not want to talk about Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Mothers of dead soldiers organisation in Russia has said that some 200 men have died in that area weirdly in mine and bomb accidents and the families have received 30,000 dollars for their son, but they were not allowed to look at their sons in the coffins. To me it seems that talking to Putin or Lavrov about Russian troops is a no-no so other ways must be considered.
If memory serves all of the freak accidents actually occur to troops attached to a unit 200, or some number there abouts, With the number being the average weight of the soldier and coffin.. Really unlucky unit i must say.
Hello Kai, Much of what is written above by other rogues is too much to address and all speculation so I'm coming straight to you It has been claimed for many months that foreign mercenaries are active in Ukraine in the fight against the rebels. This has time and time again been denied by NATO and the US. Recently, however; numerous videos have emerged confirming Russia's allegations of Mercenaries fighting alongside government troops. Combine this with millions of dollars and heavy weaponry which is currently being funneled into Ukraine thanks to the US's new resolution only seems to confirm that the Ukrainian army is just that....? I am, howerver; at a loss as to how the rebels are to blame for breaking the peace treaty when during this period over 1000 civilians lost their lives do to shelling from Govt troops. Why should they continue with this peace treaty if the Govt troops dont abide by it and constantly bomb densely populated areas? As for the Russian navy, it is in need of constant upgrade and repair but "on the verge of collapse"? far from it. http://news.usni.org/2014/10/28/u-s-navy-impressed-new-russian-attack-boat
Wonder how they explain this one- "RAF Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled on Wednesday after two long-range TU-95 “Bear” bombers were detected flying over the English Channel. The incident was last night described as “yet another in a series of deliberately provocative” measures by President Vladimir Putin which confirmed that Nato’s status had moved firmly from “rival to adversary”. Sources within the Ministry of Defence last night revealed that one of the two long-range bombers was carrying at least one air-dropped “seek and find"d nuclear warhead-carrying missile, designed to seek and destroy a Vanguard submarine. Both Prime Minister David Cameron and Defence Secretary Michael Fallon were alerted after cockpit conservations confirming the bomber’s nuclear payload were intercepted by a Norwegian military listening post, and shared with the Ministry of Defence. The missile was not armed, and the aircraft's crew would have required a direct order from President Putin before making it live." http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/555454/Intercepted-Russian-bomber-was-carrying-a-nuclear-missile-over-the-Channel
The also flew down the West Coast of Ireland, turned into the Western Approaches, and flew up the Channel - causing mayhem with civilian traffic in British-controlled airspace, although they never actually cro0ssed into the UK's Three Mile Limit. Military aircraft playing in civil air lanes with their radar transponders turned off....let alone without pre-posted flightplans...is a MAJOR international no-no. Hence the Russian ambassador being carpeted by the Foreign Office on Thursday.
They stopped the practice of routinely carrying nukes in '91, but recently started again on Putin's orders. Not sure which type, bit more info here- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kh-55
Yeah, just as surpised as probably everybody about the Soviet bombers over the English Channel area. Seem like quite far from home. Sloniksp, I believe we all want peace and saying that there are volunteers is not a reason to make any assumptions. For instance I have read two books by two Finnish volunteers from the war in Yugoslavia area, the other was on the Serb sid and the other in the Muslim troops. Their reasons seemed good enough for them to join the battle on the side they chose. However, the civilians will always be the ones to suffer, as they are in the middle of the battle, and all I can see is that the separatists are gaining more ground, which would not be probable if the western help and volunteers were that well equipped as Putin seem to say. The law that Russia can use armed forces to protect its citizens or Russians if necessary is to me more like Adolf Hitler´s politics in the 1930´s. It can only lead to battles because there are always people who say they are unsafe and need military protection. Just like the USSR did in the 1920´s, they first created the communist party in the little countries which demanded help after a month or two and thus the USSR and Red Army invaded all the area it got. What is the true peace offering that Putin is giving? Once I get this peace of land I will not ask for any more? Heard that one before. So please go for negotiations that will bring final peace.
o boy--that makes me think of another thread<>why do wars start/most common reason[ could be messy? ]....yes, there is always a ''legal/legitimate'' reason for the ''invaders''?....
Nothing to explain really. These planes were in international waters/airspace and broke no laws. Not very different from NATO warships all of a sudden entering the black sea. As for the "nuke" on board... Not sure why how or much how truth is behind that (a nuke for a sub seems a waste) but I'm far from an expert on the matter. Either way NATO ships and subs carry them so not sure what all the shock is about.
No offense, but that is apparent. The British Vanguard class is a ballistic missile submarine, almost certainly worth a nuke or five to the Russians, given the current degraded state of their submarine capabilities. The Project 885 boats may be a game changer, but there is currently only one of them. Not since about 1990...
