And sail by Norway is all they will ever do...irrelevance is as irrelevance does....didn't see Norway at the G20, Must have missed them...Putin too is fighting irrelevance, hence his bold and ludicrous moves...Take a look at the state of Russia and tell me again what a great leader he is...you sound more like a great follower...

Every US president since JFK, perhaps except Bill Clinton, have been more or less hated and disgusted in Europe. Then Obama was presented as 'The European President'. I don't know why, he didn't seem very much european to me. And even less american compared to George W. and Reagan.
Some people claim he isn't even born in the US, but in Africa in the native country of his father, but that didn't bother the europeans.
So they gave him the Peace Prize because they liked him, not because of what the guy had achieved! Unbelievable!

Concerning the russians, I guess you all have to get used to russian naval vessels sailing along your coasts. The russian military is back to former glory, and they spend more money per capita on defense budgets than most countries on this planet.
Russia is immensley rich on natural resources, russian LNG is fuelling all Ukraine and half of continental Europe! Both the US and the EU will be on their knees financially long before there is a crisis in Russia.

So all the yelling and sanctions against Russia because of its actions in Ukraine and Crimea, are fruitless. Russia will remain undeterred.

Obama's values are more European than the values of the most of the US presidents, so it's not a surprise why he is more liked in Europe than those others. He was presented the Nobel Peace Prize (prematurely), because he had the will and the position to do great things and because it was believed, that the Prize would encourage him to get those things done. "Liking him" was not the reason. Unfortunately there's still a lot to be done.

Can't understand why you keep posting that utter rubbish about his birth and religion. That's only cheap propaganda by his political opponents.

Russia is a typical "banana republic" - except with nukes. E.g. D.R.Congo is equally rich on natural resources but also poor. The Russian economy is the same size as Italian - and diminishing. All it exports are oil, gas and weapons (- and working women...). The prices of oil and gas are sinking and are not likely to get up in any time soon - or even later. The Russian budget have been constructed on much higher prices of oil and gas than the reality is now.

If by "former glory"(?) you mean the relative "glory" of the military of the USSR, then Russia's military will never ever be able to match that - thankfully! Russia has had several programs to update it's military machine. While some limited progress has been achieved all those programs have fallen short of their goals. The current one will fail spectacularly too. There's just not enough money to fulfill all those over-ambitious plans - and too much corruption and wastefulness to use even the available money properly.

Every country in Europe (incl. Ukraine) has finally (=far too late) woken up and is doing everything to diminish the relative and on average moderate dependence on Russian gas. The oil is not an issue since it can easily be obtained elsewhere - like gas in the near future.

Russia's share of the European economy and foreign trade is small. Of course some countries and fields of trade feel the effects of the sanctions a bit more, but the EU is giving mutual aid to sooth the pains.

Russia is already almost on her knees - Europe is practically untouched. There's nothing Russia can do to change that - except to start behaving like a civilized country.

Because the US legal system would not allow a foreign born person to be the president. His background, the birth certificate included, has been checked and accepted.

Also there're all the proofs that he is a christian and none of him not being one - not that anybody should care the least.

So - unless one is fascinated of those conspiracy fanatics who e.g. don't believe man ever landed into the moon - there's not really much to argue about.

Exactly, self-contained of natural resources, but not of almost anything else - contrary to industrial and developed nations. Russia manufactures very little or at least not nearly enough of almost anything, what the people want to buy. The ordinary Russians have had just enough time to get used to have the quality and choice, what the Western imports have offered. Now everything they want is either vastly more expensive or not available at all - and they have to settle again for low quality domestic or third world products.

Russia is much more dependent on foreign imports and currence fluctuations than European countries.
E.g. Finland - which is not dependent on gas despite of the fact, that all of it currently comes from Russia - is building new LNG terminals together with Estonia. Also Finland has been limiting the usage of domestic peat for environmental reasons. That can be reversed rapidly, if needed. Equivalent actions are being done also elsewhere.

LNG can be purchased from several countries all over the world and the price of it - as well as the price of oil - is very cheap now, and seems to be cheap for long.

One should also still remember, that Russia gets most of her incomes from the export of gas and oil. Russia wants to sell much more desperately than the others want to buy - maybe Ukraine not included.

European countries are suffering some financial difficulties, but are in general not even close to be on their knees - unlike Russia. The sanctions against Russia are not the cause of those difficulties - but of course do not help either.
No, I'm not joking - but that's because I'm not reading Russia Today...

EU is far from bankruptcy. Where on Earth do you get your "information" from? Are you aware of the deficit of the USA?

Well...color me unimpressed. Can we say "El toro crapo", yes I think we can.

Anyone else notice that nanosecond disclaimer?

I lost track of how many cut/splices there are in this video that make it suggestively appear that Obama is a Muslim. But I will admit to having flashbacks to "Live Free or Die Hard"(aka Die Hard 4)

BTW, Snopes has a nice little write up discrediting the Obama video.

Back to it's former glory? Funny...I thought the Chinese still had most of the ex-Soviet carriers. Did the Russians take back the one they leased to India too? The Russians might again be conducting blue water ops, but they have a long road to go before reaching their "former glory.

AFAIK, as of 2013 & per capita, the Russians rank 17th in defense spending. So, they are slowly improving, they were 24th in 2009.

Then why is Obamas birth certificate locked up in a vault and nobody is allowed to scrutinize it? Fraud is possible at any level.

The rest, like the Finnish LNG and peat resources, are way beyond and I don't bother to comment it, except that there is no supplier of LNG that can replace the quantity of gas supplied by Russia today or in the foreseeable future.

For the sake of arguement, let's say Obama wasn't born in the US. Don't you think he would have made a FAKE birth certificate saying the opposite by now?

I don't bother to continue that birth certificate nonsense any further. No proof in the world will obviously convince you...

Maybe you didn't get my message, that all Russian gas does not need to be replaced by gas at all? There are also alternative methods. And Russia still desperately needs to sell her gas - whether Putin likes it or not.

Once again - Russia needs Europe much more than Europe needs Russia.

Your source is from the last April. A lot has happened since then. Maybe you haven't followed the news lately? You might have noticed the on-going crisis of Russian economy and understood, how it will affect everything in Russia - the military spending possibilities included.

At the moment the Russians themselves estimate 4 % decline next year. The reality might very well be even bleaker.

    "African born"?
    Proof please.

    "Muslim".
His religion is irrelevant. What's next? No Jewish person can be President? Maybe, no Catholics after that...Perhaps no Mormons to follow. Then there are plenty of smaller religions to exclude...No Taoists, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, Wiccans, Pagans, etc. Heck, there is plenty of Native American religions we can forbid too.

    A "tongue-in-cheek" response would be
Christians have been driving this country into the ground for decades...Bout time to give another religion a shot.

Bloody hell RAM has lost his marbles.

Russia was improving militarily but was still a long way off, When you need to send a tug boat off with the fleet on an exercise then it tells you how well maintained the ships are, Add to that the vast majority of the equipment is outdated, Slow to come off production lines, very little training provided annually and that billions goes missing each year due to corruption and fraud. Russia has a long way to come back to the glory days.

Russia may be the world's single largest natural gas producer but while other produce smaller amounts combined they can easily fill the void. A few years of hard times to bring in new suppliers and take Russia down a peg or two, I think most of Europe would be all for that.

As to spending per capita, 2013 budget was $90.7 billion, With a population of 146 odd million gives roughly $621 per capita, Australia for next financial year will spend $29.3 billion (AUD), With a population of roughtly 23.7 million and accounting for inflation (valued AUD-USD at 80c considering current downward trend) would still leave Australia with a $989 per capita spending, over 59% higher then Russia and it's apparent higher spending per capita... And there at least a dozen odd nations that spend more per capita then Australia.. RAM, Come back with some actual facts, Utilizing a new's article without doing the math is no good.
