    It is in very good condition with only a few minor marks to the woodwork.

    Sadly not - it's the only one in my collection that isn't.:( Even then ( 10-12 years ago ) the moving-bolt ones were too expensive for my pocket.

    But I really like my 'bnz 43' MP40 - it's in good shape, has plenty of interesting markings and has - to me - just the 'right' amount of wear on the finish. I think I paid £175 for it......

    But this one is old-spec ; still my absolute, total #1 favourite piece of militaria .....

    £175 :eek:...What a price!

    I remember speaking to a dealer at an arms fair a few years back, he told me he had bought a number of MP40s in the early 1980s for £50 each, he then sold them on for £150, happy with the profit he had made on each.

    If only i had a time machine. :)

    The StG44 is an amazing weapon, i'm now green with envy. :D....:ak47:

    Nice collections John, Martin. Are any of your weapons capable of firing?

    Sadly not, UK gun laws do not allow us to own live automatic weapons. :(

    But you can own a live single shot rifle/pistol. :)

    Hey nice stuff guys! I like the StG 44 and of course the MP-40 mit P08.

    Von you have a very understanding wife.

    Erich the rifle you have was the alternative to the G24T that the gerbirgsjagers used. The reason for the metal on the butt plate was so there mountain boots wouldn't F up the rifle butt. Nice rifle.

    For me I am about 50 US 50 Wehrmacht mostly rifles, also signed first edition books, some original Mein Kampfs, Why we fight stuff, manuals ect, DAK coconut canteen, and a gold RAD ring, taken off a kraut at Remagen, captains sword from Guam and other odds and ends. See if i can find a pic or two.

    Cheers

    Pegasus, I wish you and Martin could live here. It does not take much to be a law-abiding citizen with the right to have live-firing weapons. Your Rifle is a nice one. I have a German Sniper Rifle, myself. It was pictured on this site sometime in the past-not sure how to locate the pics. Mine is a Museum quality piece-meaning that it is in mint-condition. My piece at one time, resided in the Mauser Meuseum in Oberndorf. But thanks to a crafty G.I. this fine specimin made it's way to the USA having only a total of four owners-including me. ;-)).

    Hi, I hold a UK FAC (fire arms certificate) and the K98 is live and licenced to me , its code AR is from the Mauser-Werke,Berlin-Boriswalde, it has a Russian capture mark X on the receiver and electro pencile numbers eched on to the bolt, the rifle is a very intersting thing to shoot, it kicks like a mule as it is a very light wepon with a powerful round, this is my first sniper (sharp shooter) rifle and I have now got my heart set on a enfield No 4 with No 32 scope, agian war time production, I would like to see your K98 if you get time please post some pictures

    Here are 2 items i picked up from Hill 112 back in August. The hill is just south of Caen in Normandy and was the scene of some very fierce fighting during July '44.

    The cartridge case is a german 7.92 and the chunk of metal is a piece of unidentified mortar.

    The headstamp markings on the cartridge are:

    36 = Manufacture date (1936)
    P181 = Manufacturers code
    S* = Material that the cartridge case is made of (brass)
    14 = Batch number

    Nice relics, JP44.....yes, it can be fun spending loads of money at a militaria fair but there is certainly a different kind of thrill to be walking an old battlefield and suddenly, there at your feet, is a small relic of 60+ years ago.....
