Going to be very difficult to find a moral way of keeping the Scots in their place. For instance if The SNP hold a vote anyway and win it are you really saying that The Police will arrest the SNP if they declare UDI and start dismantling UK Laws? Use troops to keep Scotland in the UK? Oh and hysterical to find those who supported May in her grovelling attempts to get Trump to fast-track a new deal with her believing the EU would not fast-track a Scottish Application to join The EU. If you pick a fight with your neighbours and start throwing stones at their windows better allow for the possibility they might start throwing them back.
Add to that the fact their vote the other night had absolutely no legal standing- "The Supreme Court ruled last month that there was no legal need for Holyrood to give its consent to the triggering of Article 50. But First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she would let MSPs have a say, despite it being largely symbolic." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-38880999 And that Sturgeon said there wouldn't be a referendum this year, and you begin to wonder how many brain cells they actually have- "NICOLA Sturgeon has ruled out a second independence referendum in 2017 just a week after a Herald poll showed the overwhelming majority of Scots were opposed to the idea. The First Minister said there would not be a vote this year, but said a referendum remained on the table in the longer term “to make sure Scotland is not driven off a hard Brexit cliff edge". She told STV: “There is not going to be an independence referendum in 2017, I don't think there is anybody who thinks that is the case.”" http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/15012169.Sturgeon_rules_out_second_referendum___but_only_for_2017/
As I said those who want 'fredom' from the EU will do everything in their power to deny others the same chance of 'freedom' from the UK. I said earlier they will use every legal challenge they can find but it is clear that if the SNP go for UDI then it will become very nasty. As for 'Public Opinion' the latest polling shows that it has shifted since 2014 and that whilst Scots are willing to wait and see what concessions they get before triggering a vote the momentum is clearly with the SNP. http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-scotland-idUKKBN15N05V
Not much politics on here but you are always good for a laugh. If you ever begin to understand the dynamics between Brexit and a Scottish independence vote get back to us. No hurry.
Nicola Sturgeon's doing her job, but I wonder, is she just wasting tax payers money? How much money time and resources are SNP wasting on this?
Yep if the Americans think they have a problem with DT, NS can certainly give him a run for his money in the fruitcake stakes. A joke way out of here depth.
Sounds very much like the arguments used to say Trump was wasting the Republican's time/money as he was too much of a fruitcake and could never win. I love it when you can turn someone's argument straight back against them
I'm a student, what are you? Do you work, do you study, or do you just sit there posting on the internet all day? I won't be lectured about how the UK works by someone who doesn't understand what Westminster is.
I would like to point out that whilst the ant-EU Immigrant-hating flag-wavers here keep saying these who opposing them are 'dumb' the actual surveys done show that 'dumbness' is the one outstanding point about their core voters. They think 'we' are 'dumb' but the evidence indicates 'they ' are 'dumb'! Note: Be sure you are fully aware what putting a word in quotes means before allowing your flabber to get too gasted
I'm a pro global immigration Union Jack flying Londoner. What are you? Wishing the government wasn't in the UK parliament in Westminster, you have no respect for democracy when 52% voted leave and 48% including London and Scotland voted remain. London could and probably should be independent, but London's not as time wasting as the SNP.
We know you didn't study History ( Bronze Age London error) and now have confirmation you dropped maths. My average is 8 posts a month. Yours is 43. If you want to know who really spends all his time here look to one of your EU-Hating Immigrant-Hating supporters in this thread who has an average of 109 posts a month during his membership .
I just don't think you live on the same planet. Since when was treating EU citizens like the rest of the world hatred towards them? Do we hate American citizens because they haven't got freedom to settle in the UK? No.
Hmm..........about right for the type. They have a history of being active participants in that which they profess to despise. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/feb/02/the-go-to-barrister-for-morality-campaigner-mary-whitehouse#img-1 Short version for non UK residents. Mary Whitehouse was famous in the 1970s for her attempts to remove all mention of sex from our TV screens. The Lawyer who led her Court battles is under investigation for Child Abuse and Murder.
Gentlemen, Ladies and those I have severe doubts about. Converse with at least a little civility to one another or I will shut down this thread.
Well Europe lacks democracy, some may argue Scotland lacks it, but then nobody can argue the UK has democracy. Some can point out that Scotland has democracy citing the Scottish vote to remain in the UK in 2014, but in 2016 the UK voted to leave the EU against the wishes of London, Scotland, N. Ireland, Gibraltar... So some could argue that those places are being dragged out, but in reality it works down to this. The UK as a whole voted in 2016, Scotland as a whole voted in 2014. It's 48 to 52 to but that matters not, it's democracy. Democracy is both Scottish and British if 2014 and 2016 is to believed, not only is EU power not elected, it doesn't respect democracy, it doesn't respect Ireland's referendum or Donald Trump's victory; Guy Verhofstadt a Belgian Member of European Parliament the the floor to rant about Donald Trump saying the EU were under attack. - He's the same person who the EU have chosen to deal with Brexit on their part. This person published a book recently called Europe's Last Chance; he has delusions of modelling the EU on the USA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF_CkwV5jtI
The name 'Ben Dover' is a play on the phrase 'Bend Over' and the meaning is quite clear to everyone in the UK.
Establishing Trade Routes Vs. Protectionism; The difference between what Great Britain are aiming for with Brexit and President Trump's economic ambitions. It's important for any small nation to establish a trading route with the world; just look at Monaco being a income tax free casino former principality now independent country that is; and understand why Monaco establishing trading routes with the world were vital for the country of Monaco to be Monaco; Britain needs global trade if it's going to exit the EU and that means, probably like it does for Monaco... That Monaco needs trade with the EU; Britain's going to need an EU too. - so it's vital Britain sets up trading routes for trading with the EU too.
Ben, considering the value you bring to the forum's subject, I am amazed that we have allowed you such latitude, even in the Stump. The use of another language to encourage someone to have sex with himself does not go unnoticed. You've burned your last get of jail free card.
