    to the disappointment

(Oli, irritatingly you are right, the weft is also called the woof, in my flipping period of interest as well! In my defence I have never heard it called this before...... ......I can't believe I can learn stuff about medieval weaving terms on a tank forum. I would like to thank you Oli..... but I can't bring myself to! :D )

(two years designing industrial weaving machines helps - woof is, AFAIK, an older term for weft, it's Old English and since I'm English and Oldish.... :D I thought it would catch someone out)

(You made me research something!!!! ARGH!!! The term "woof" was used around 1540, prior to that it was "oof". So "woof" is a Tudor expression...about 100 years later than the period I depict.....that's why I hadn't heard of it!!! ;) )
