"With the Old Breed" By E.B. Sledge. Oh yeah in english class we are reading 'The Giver'. Its not WWII Related but...
Just finished One Square Mile of Hell by John Wukovits. The story of Tarawa. The terror must have been mind-numbing.
My first edition"A Bridge Too Far",will probably be busy this christmas, but I like to keep it near mint as possible, cheers.
Reading from the Osprey Fortress series - The Führer’s Headquarters, Hitler’s command bunkers 1939–45
I just finished that book in November. Mind-numbing is certainly one way to describe the terror. I thought it was a great book. I'm currently reading An Army at Dawn. It is a very detailed description of the North Africa campaign.
I read both of Atkinson's books. I'm waiting anxiously for the third volume, although I read it won't be released until 2012. I'm reading Dawn Like Thunder by Robert Mrazek on a Kindle, of all things. Seems like a good read.
Finished "Don't Shoot It's Only Me" a biography by Bob Hope. Like to keep it 'light' now and then. Currently on volume 5 of 28 of The "Illustrated World War II Encyclopedia" , based on the original text of Lt. Col. Eddy Bauer.
In that book you gave me I remember somewhere in the beginning E.B. Sledge said he and his buddies were visited by him, i think, and Hope said 'Tough Sledding' and then when they asked why he replied 'No Snow'. I laughed out loud, later realizing my whole class was staring at me...
Being posted to me now.. Messerschmitt Me 262 - the Production Log 1941-1946 By Dan O´Connell Attack & Sink - The battle for convoy SC42 summer 1941 By Bernard Edwards
I'm reading Hunnicutt's Sherman: A History of the American Medium Tank. I'm a little surprised by its content, I thought it would be more technical in some areas and not cover so much of other vehicles (M3, M10, M36, M7) though more knowledge is never a bad thing. Fascinating to come to know the steps of development of weapons of war; I would love to know more. Pershing is on its way as is Jentz' Panther, I'm not sure what is next though. I'm hoping inter-library loan will yield Faint Praise: American Tanks and Tank Destroyers During WWII.
Isn't Inter-Library Loan a wonderful thing? I use it all the time. I'm waiting for Operation Mincemeat through it.
Currently into On Sea's Contested written by a collection of authors and editors. A decent comparative look at the seven major fleets of the Second World War, designed to encourage comparison.
Just finished Peter Fitzsimons Kokoda and Tobruk and I am currently reading Wing Leader by J. E. Johnson
