normally you join up when you don't want to fight due to conscription.

As for TA's, these are part time soldiers, the old weekend warriors, who sign up to have fun, fire guns (most of which are illegal for civilians to own/use in the UK) and possably get fit. I must admit that it annoys me when people join anything to do with the miltary and then moan when people shoot at them.

I wanted to join the Air Force, but was rejected because of my alleged colour blindness. So I ended up in the Infantry instead ( conscript ).

the air force tends to be very picky , to join the canadian air force you have to have 20/20 vision uncorrected , no eye problems of any kind , you need a university degree from the royal military college , or any other college , you need to meet physical requirements , you can't have sensitivities to G-force , you need a strong stomach(so you sont puke when the plane gets too fast) , so only a few people make it.

Is that for the entire air force or just the pilots?

For example, and I don't wish to seem like I'm being overly picky, but those kind of tests just don't seem applicable to the job of an airforce storeman... :-?
