Well acting was disappointment, there was too big difference between veteran and new acters. But: Movie did tell everything what it had to tell. Storytelling was littlebit mixed but when you watch this movie, you watch it to end. Couple clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXS07ZLZW84 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3Eub-XEBIg&feature=related I recommend.
sound okay. Was it worth watching? I just received Hitler and Speer which is half way a film , half way a documentary with interviews from Speer's children included. Great archive films too.
Just watched a documentry on 4 called Hitlers british girl.Unity mitford was the daughter of lord reasdale and lived in germany from early 30's to 1939 becoming part of hitlers, inner circle. And because she could not bear the thought of england and germany at war tried to shoot herself at the outbreak of ww2. Surviving the attempt she returned to england in 1940 where she recovered at a nursing/maternity home where the programme suggests she could of given birth to hitlers son
Watched "Ride with the Devil" earlier this week; not WWII but still outstanding IMHO. Also watched "The Thin Red Line" and "We Were Soldiers."
what shall we have a look at tonight .. only hero's die young .. that will do fine cheers krieg.....................:vegetate:
A document on Estonian guerilla warfare radists 1941-44 who were trained by Finns for the job. Their job was to spy first the Germans and inform the Finns whether the Germans were leaving the Baltics soon in spring 1944, and later on the Red army movements. It was called the group Hawk. Interesting as the Finns were also spying on what the Germans wre up to...
Operation Crossbow (George Peppard, Sophia Loren, Jeremy Kemp and Anthony Quayle) on History Television, All Quiet on the Western Front (1930's version) on Moviepix, and Dogfights: Guadalcanal on DVD.
Tobruk tonight. All Quiet On The Western Front(1979 version) last night And I'm very excited to finally see Die Bruecke tomorrow night. Though I need to fix the subtitles first. A great big thank you to the creators of Subtitle Edit
I saw a great classic called Gung Ho! from 1943 with Robert Mitchum. It deals about the attack of the Island of Makin by U.S. Marine Raiders. it's a great film about the Pacific war that was shot before the war was even over. Obvioulsy some propaganda, but vey nice and the uniforms and material are real of course, even the Zeros and most of al you have great 1942 shots of the damaged and sunk ships at Pearl Harbour. The Arizona is half sunk and the cannon turrets are still above water.
I can't make sense of it. The subtitles appear to be a literal translation from german to english...or perhaps from german to another language and then to english: I don't need perfection, but I can't make any sense of these. Also, they flash on the screen so quick that I don't even have time to read them. This is the only English subtitle file I can find available for download. Does anyone have a copy of the subtitles containing a better translation? Very disappointed. I just realised you may have been asking me about Tobruk, and not Die Bruecke. Thought Tobruk was pretty good. The scenes with the father and daughter are over acted and sometimes just aweful. Other than that though I thought the story and acting was very good especially when compared to some of the other war films of that time and earlier. I'm not very informed as far as the war on that front is concerned so I wasn't watching it for historical accuracy or anything like that. Tonight will be Ivanovo Detstvo or World At War 25: Reckoning. I have to be in the right mood to watch that particular W.A.W. episode, need to feel completely detached or I end up feeling bad for people who don't deserve much sympathy.
i wos asking your thorts on .. the bridge .. just as a ww2 picture i quight liked it myself... cheers krieg
The original is the only one, as far as im concerned. Spent some of this weekend watching: The Martian Chronicles mini-series, The Villain, Hitler: The Last Ten Days, and something else that escapes my mind at this time.

Tonight in "more or less" local series documentary: Scars of war: The Red Army navy losses at Estonia, Tallinn autumn 1941. Some 16,000 dead while ships were sunk ( mines, torpedo boats, stukas ) when the Soviets were trying to escape from Tallinn. Footage on wrecks from the bottom of the ocean, people who were there telling their story etc. Also intending to go and see the the new Indiana Jones movie tonight...
Will be finishing Hitler: The Last Ten Days-this evening, and then starting on Season 1 of: Justice League America, animated TV series. After that, I will be watching the entire run of the 1 season-lived TV series: The Voyagers. And hopefully not too long after that, I will be starting to watch all six seasons of: COMBAT ;-D
