Well, since I have been "laid off", I have been watching Hogan`s Heroes on TV Land from 4-6 every day. Nothing like 2 hours of Klink and Schultz to help the day along!!
FOOKING EKE WHAT AFTERNOON OF FILMS. Next up a John Wayne doulble bill Blood Alley & Brannigan Hey Carl you just got time to get a plane to England.
It must have been a good 20 years when I last saw Brannigan. Great film, old Dickey (Richard Attenborough) enjoying the Bar fight. Great to see London of the 1970's.
Got a copy of "The Outlaw Josey Wales" for Christmas. I have watched it a million times since it came out at the theater. Looks like a million and one coming, and counting. "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining." Gotta remember that line the next time the boss calls me in on the carpet....
There are three kinds of Suns in Missouri. Sunshine, Sunflower and Sunsabitches was my favourite line from that movie.
Great line!! My favorite Wales quote is: "Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie"? Forgot to mention that I jut watched Superman 3 w/ Robt Vaughn & Richard Pryor. Not the best of the four Reeve Superman movies, but still enjoyable. Also watched Superman Returns. It was Ok but not great. Reeve & Hackman are sorely missed. BTW, did ou know the original "Lois Lane" (Noel Neill) played that lady who died at the beginning of the movie-who also ""left"" her entire fortune to Lex Luthor. Noel Neill played Lois Lane in the two Superman Serials--opposite Kirk Alyn-who played Clark Kent/Superman.
Hi Kai, is that a movie or TV series? and is it on DvD? Inquiring minds wish to kennen ;-)) PS, still watching season 4 of COMBAt, and saw a few very good episodes last night that had Fernando Lamas, and Dennis Weaver-as guest stars.
I know this isn't WW2 based, but I just finished watching this and for any baseball fan it is well worth the time. Billy Crystal directed the HBO movie called "61*" that covers the 1961 season where both Mantle and Marris are casing the Babe's home run record of 60 in a season. Really worth the time, I'm was a huge Mantle fan as a kid but also watched catchers like a hawk since that was my position. Yogi, Howard, Garagiola, Bench, Campenella, you know; those guys. Still this 61* is really heart felt and true too life on these men that season.
That was the movie. I must have watched it a dozen times but after awhile it seems as good as always.... Also watching a five part series on Wehrmacht by ZDF ( 2007 ) so it´s by the Germans themselves. Some interesting pieces of info, the main new ones being the conversations by POW Generals in the Allied hands, Trent Park castle, the archives on these being opened a couple of years back (?).
I'm between jobs right now so I'm doing a lot of catching up, just watched "Downfall". Incredible portrayal of Hitler by Bruno Ganz & the actors who played the generals. Just an orgy of violence interspersed with terrific dramatic scenes. The one armed veteran trying to talk sense to the deluded young volksturmm was very poignant, and Magda Goebbels final solution to her familiy's troubles was very disturbing. The bloodbath that was Berlin in April 1945 would be well beyond most nightmares potential for horror, I would imagine.
I watched "Downfall" over the weekend myself. It was very well made. I read in imdb that some of the Berlin street scenes were filmed in Leningrad. Very ironic. Also, last week I went to the theatre and saw "Valkurie." Once you get past the "I can't believe it's Tom Cruise" syndrome, it turned out to be a very good movie too. The charactor that played the SS doctor in "Downfall" also starred in "Valkurie" as one of the German officers involved in the plan to remove Hitler.
