Hi Lou-it was the least I coud try to do for you ;-)) Speaking of Twilight Zone-those are a "must" for me as well. If you don't mind me asking? but how much is that 28 DvD set? I bought the complete boxed set of COMBAT about 18 months ago-on half-price sale at Deep Discount and I think it was about $150.00? give or take a few$$$ Anyway, COMBAT I think has about 39 DvDs in the boxed set. It took me about 2 months to watch the set-even after not re-watching the first 1 & 1/2 seasons since I already saw those more than once ;-)) After I get Twilight Zone-I still need to finish off buying the rest of the Daniel Boone series. I still need seasons 4,5 and 6. After that, I guess ill finally break down and buy all the 3 seasons to Star Trek (original) and them possibly all 8 seasons of STTNG.
star trek? wow wasn't really a fan of them but i like the new movie though. watching the show leverage at the moment, its quite good.
Carl, I really don't know how much the Twilight Zone set would be. I have a friend who had a set, and he kindly made me a set for only the cost of the blank dvds. It's nice to have friends.
Hi Lou, I imagine the set might go for about $200? based on the amount of Dvds in it vs the COMBAT boxed set. I wonder how many seasone T.Z. had? ANd it is good to have friends with a means to copy DvDs. I have a friend in Illinois that does the same thing. I think I might call in a few of my favors he owes me and see if he can burn me a complete set. This computer I have has a DvD burner/cd writer thing on it. I might try it out sometime after visiting a few sites I know that have TZ on them ;-))
Movies ive watched in the last 2 weeks: Midway The Longest Day Valkyrie Defiance Letters from Iwo Jima Enemy at the Gates Gran Torino Patton pretty much all good movies.
No Richard I have not. Have read two different versions of the books (all separately and all in one large book) but never heard the radio versions. God's last message to his creations: sorry for the inconvenience! CLASSIC! I have only seen Casino Royal so I wont base the acting off of a horribly done film. I am hoping he does better in the newest installment.
Carl, I haven't seen the set at a retail outlet, so I can't estimate the price, but your figure sounds like it might be right. My set has 5 seasons of 5 or 6 dvds per season. Each episode runs about 25-26 minutes, and most disks have about 5 episodes. Really good stuff. Last night, I watched James Cagney in "Yankee Doodle Dandy". Still a stirring movie after all these years. I always enjoy watching Cagney dance.
Read them all in order many years ago. The Radio Show Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Complete Radio Series: Douglas Adams: Amazon.co.uk: Books
Watch 'Sahara' - a great little war movie - Bogie is the commander of an M-3 Lee tank in North Africa -- --- great little flick. -whatever -Lou
Speaking of that new Bond movie, It was on twice yesterday on one of the channels we get-but I never found the time to watch it. I heard it was a good movie but-I alsso had heard that the latest Superman movie-was good too-which I thought sucked Prune Pits. I wonder what the next Bond title is going to be called?
Hi Lou, thanks for the additional-and me too-I have not seen a boxed set for TZ out-not that im saying there isn't one ;-)) Do you have any TZ hour long episodes? I used to have them all on VHS-but i got tired of lugging 6 HEAVY boxes of tapes around-so I gave away all but about 200 tapes-along with them went all of my Black Sheep Squadron, Star Trek and Twilight Zones James Cagney is one of my top favorites. I too watched Yankee Doodle Dandy-right after watching: Captains of the Clouds-where he joins the Canadian A.F. Did you know that Cagney wanted to be known as a "Song and Dance" man? instead of as a Gangster.
To tell you the truth, Carl, I'm not far enough along in my viewing of TZ to know if there are any hour long ones. I'm trying to watch them in sequence, and I don't know if any of the original ones were an hour long. As for Cagney, I think I did know that he wanted to be a "song and dance man". I don't recall where I heard it, but it sticks in my mind. I find him fun in either kind of role.
You are right scarface, I saw the Humphrey Bogart version of "Sahara" years ago, and the remake with Jim Belushi playing Bogie's part. The original was good, but I remember the remake as sort of lame if you know what I mean. Now I have to get the original version, along with "Yankee Doodle Dandy" in my que on Netflix and bump them up to the top!
Gran Torino was a good movie , not gonna spoil it for you but ending was a surprise Its worth watching though , especially that it's probably going to be his last acting role. Also watched Miracle at St.Anna today , didnt much care for it , bored me alot :/. Went to the movies friday afternoon (off of school yay!) and saw Hangover , now that was one of the funniest movies ive ever seen..Definately worth the 7.50$
Hi Lou, yep-there were hour long episodes. One that comes to mind was one that dealt with being on some Navy ship-and had something to do with one of that ships-former crewmates-all who were killed in WWII. I can't think of the title off-hand but-I remember it was a B&W episode (I guess they all were?) and i also remember onw that had Warren Oates as a "Cowboy" Astronaut. Ill see if I can dig up something on these. Either they were shown as two seperate episodes-or were actual hr long ones? The bit on James Cagney-I believe I heard the host on TCM by the name of Clooney-tell about that Cagney was more interested in being known as a Song and Dance man instead of as a Mobster. However, like you, I really enjoy him in either role ;-))
