Yes, the Apocalyptica is also Finnish, you´re correct Friedrich! They started with Metallica songs as orchestral versions.
I am in metal and hard core. I favour european metal bands like Iron Maiden, Sodom, Kreator, Running wild, etc and some pretty good old hardcore like M.O.D., D.R.I., Sick of it all and Pro-pain. Of course, classics like Slayer, Annihilator, older Metallica albums are always welcomed
Ath the moment some good old Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush. From heavy rock older Motörhead ( hammersmith live album ) and Metallica. BTW, just booked tickets for Kratwerk´s show in feb 2004 in Helsinki, and hopefully get tickets next week for Metallica´s Finnish concert in the summer...
Oh,it will be a long long list-in classical music from Vivaldi,Bach,Corelli, through Mozart,Bach,Berlioz,Liszt,Sibelius,Mahler,Orff up to Arvo Pärt and Giya Kancheli........in "popular music"Beatles,Pink Floyd,Bob Dylan,Cure,Leftfield,Portishead,Massive Attack,Tricky,Radiohead,Metallica´s early pieces,Bjork,Leonard Cohen....and our slovakian stars like Dezo ursiny,HEX,Chiki-liki-tu-a....
Good to hear it Duce! I have a fellow system fan in the forums... Currently listening to a System cover of Ozzy's "Snowblind" it's pretty good...the bassits is bathing in his own skills. Amen to that, Sdro! The newer Metallica is nothing short of garbage...we need a slow song! AND STOP SCREAMING, D***IT!
Last Friday saw Kraftwerk on their Finnish concert in Helsinki. Actually I was surprised how many "younger" people were there and the whole concert was a sold out. IT was excellent, as especially golden oldies like " radioactivity", "Autobahn", "Robots" and "Manmachine" were great to listen to. I listened to their music all weekend after that... ANybody else into Kraftwerk or the Futuristic band back then? AS well lately I´ve listened to good old Roxy Music and the AValon album espcially (!!??).My favourite song of theirs at the moment is "Love is the drug". Love is the drug (ferry/mackay) T´ain´t no big thing To wait for the bell to ring T´ain´t no big thing The toll of the bell Aggravated - spare for days I troll downtown the red light place Jump up bubble up - what´s in store Love is the drug and I need to score Showing out, showing out, hit and run Boy meets girl where beat goes on Stitched up tight, can´t shake free Love is the drug, got a hook on me Oh oh catch that buzz Love is the drug i´m thinking of Oh oh can´t you see Love is the drug for me Late that night I park my car Stake my place in the singles bar Face to face, toe to toe Heart to heart as we hit the floor Lumber up, limbo down The locked embrace, the stumble round I say go, she say yes Dim the lights, you can guess the rest Oh oh catch that buzz Love is the drug i´m thinking of Oh oh can´t you see Love is the drug, got a hook in me Oh oh catch that buzz Love is the drug i´m thinking of Oh oh can´t you see Love is the drug for me
I recorded a video of Brian Ferry years ago and he is really good, I don't know why he never caught on in the USA more than he did. I did not even know Kraftwerk was still playing. They are very good also. It is strange that some music catches on in some parts of the world and not others. I have never heard of a good rock band from Japan, but I know they like rock and roll.
I always wondered why the Japanese market (music ) was considered so important by some Finnish bands ( they made some success there, the Hanoi Rocks for isntance ) but I learned some 10 years ago that they are the 2. or 3 best selling area (!!) in the world after the US ( and Europe?).So being popular in Japan means alot of money as well... And they have had some interesting choices to sell alot there ( of western influence ), one of them being Scatman John, one of 4-5 persons to sell over one million copies ( of one single record ) over there.I think Mariah Carey is one of them as well. So Big in Japan is not such a bad thing...( Old Alphaville song )...
Well Kai and Otto, it seems we have something in common. I too like techno and trance (house and progressive in particular). Kinda weird for someone my age.....46....or at least many of the people I know think so....
A friend of mine recently let me borrow the fisrt CD by the Bloodhound Gang (the ones who sing "Bad Touch") and it's pretty damned good...I can't stand their later work, but this cd is good. I used to listen to techno/trance/house....but I think I might have listened to it too much...now it's just damn annoying. I've always liked rock (old, new, hard whatever) and I think I always will! *lol* DUCE
amen, duce. Gimme Zeppelin or give me death. Anyway, found a few bands that I've heard of for a while, but never looked into. Audioslave and Jane's Addiction. Until next time...rock on. \m/
Audioslave is an alright band...two former bands went into creating it...Rage Against the Machine and some other one. Not my favorite of groups, but the turnout is alright. Some of the songs seem quite generic though, oh well. Jane's Addiction has actually been around for awhile, but is just now coming back into the spot light...I love'em. DUCE
Rage "Rally around a Family" Filter "Nice Shot Man" Beasties "Sabotage" Disturbed Godsmack That about doe's it for now.
Yeah, Audioslave's lead guitarist (forgot his name) needs to stop experimenting and get with real skill. I know Jane's Addiction has been here for a while, they just now started to behave themselves (for the good of themselves and the public)...
I like a wide variety of music. Classic Rock (Petty/Dylan/Led Zep/Floyd, etc) Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Rap (some rap - like DMX), Punk, Emo, (Saves the Day, Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, etc) and Bands like Outkast. and i think thats about it.
June 2004 the Paul McCartney concert in Finland- got the tickets! ----------- Otherwise I listen to J.Geils band at the moment ( Freeze frame, centerfold, Californicatin´, Tell ´em Jonesy...) And some Classix Nouveaux....
Found an old tape of great Australian music-Icehouse... How about "Electric blue", "Uniform" and especially "Street cafe"!! and no matter where the days have left you every day ends at the street cafe the street cafe and no matter where the road may take you every time it brings you back to the street cafe it's where you have to be BTW. Iva Davies composed the soundtrack for the Russell Crowe movie Master and Commander...
