To clear this up, I was talking about realistic options for Norway, which does not have a fantasy airforce, unless those damn socialists get reelected. :D

i wonder why we dont yet have a fighter /strike aircraft that is entirely human free ...it seems like the ai pilot can do everything a real pilot can do plus it dont get sleepy or paniced or hafta go pee not to mention ,two years of costly training, oxy air ,ejection seat, pilot armor ,g forces and downed pilot rescue issues ...are computers not up to the task yet or is it politics ie the worlds airforce pilots union ..that is holding up the ahnold t2 pilot of the future?

Well, I think it is mostly because AI lacks the rapid adaptability of the human mind.

However, remote-control stuff is being investigated in the meantime:

And humans have instinct. Which could actually work.

Why did it take so long for open cockpits to go away?
There are still some technical problems to be worked out. But all the technology is there, UCAVs could be a reality in five years, maybe even less with the right incentive.
