It could be argued that the last time classic "blitzkrieg" was succesful was during the summer of 1941 during the invasion of the Soviet Union. At first.....

If you go for "interesting details" bit it was mr Hitler himself in 1940 who first stopped the blitzkrieg in front of Dunkirk.

The again the first time they were in such big trouble they could not move ahead I think it was the Army group South in Autumn 1941 due to which the AGC had to turn southwards to take Kiev.

Anyway, there must be other opinions so let´s hear it...

I agree with you, Kai. The other egregious occasion where Blitzkrieg met Brickwall was at Kursk. In (almost) every other previous occasion where the Jerries were determined to breakthrough they did, they knew it and the Russians knew it, but in Kursk got their nose smashed big time! Never again would blitzkrieg work.

By the way, what is this thread doing in WWII Today?
