What US division was trained as an experimental jungle division, converted back to a standard division and then, despite it's extensive jungle training, sent to Europe as an emergency reinforcement?

It was in the 70s range of divisional numbers. It's patch had a stylized number of the division, in red white and blue.

It's GOTTA be the 71st - but everything I can find shows it to have originally been a MOUNTAIN division .....

... but it's the only LIGHT division that I can find in the 70's range.

.. so, I'm gonna go with the 71st.

    ...or not.

Okay... it says they were '...organized as a Mountain Division,...and trained in mountain AND jungle warfare'...hmmh!

....seems like they'd look pretty stupid traipsing around the mountains of New Guinea with their cross-country skiis.... but hey, it IS the Army, after all!

a Jungle Mountain division..... that's getting pretty specialized. Let's send 'em to Europe! Yep.....THAT's the Army!

    My heavens....how gracious. Thank you.

OK - here's an easy one...

What award-winning star of stage, screen and TV was named after a World War II combat airplane?

    (... and, no, it's NOT Burt Lancaster!....sheesh!...)

I obviously didn't know it and Lou is going to be out of pocket, so he sent me the answer so we could keep the game going.

Hints: It's a female and is not the official name of an aircraft-it's crew's name, nose art.

    She person is well known.

She shares a common surname with the antagonist in 1979's Apocalypse Now.

Well, that film was based on Conrad's Heart of Darkness, and the two main characters were Marlow and Kurtz, if that's any help. Did Brando play Kurtz, or am I misremembering?

you have the right idea. I was referring to the movie, probably better known of the two.
