I hope you will share the tidbit that you found now that you have piqued our curiosity. :)

I did find the photo of Capt. Lee. He's on the right hand side of the page.

I also found a map in the back that covers 3-20 Jan 1945. The 1st Bn is indicated at top center.

Haha, Brilliant minds Tommy.... My tidbits you just posted:) the photo, a few more references and especially the Map

I've now put together a 20 page binder to present to my father-in-law, along with Houstons book "Hell on Wheels" and the attached commemorative flag flown over Camp Redleg in the UAE on Veterans Day w/ cert

This journey may be nearing the end but I look forward to helping others the same way y'all assisted me...Thanks <Salute>

I'm very happy to be of help, Bryan. My main concern is honoring our WWII veterans. I can't think of a better gift than what you have put together for your father-in-law. The flag with the certificate dedicating it to his brother is a nice touch. Well done.

As it says on the NARA website link you posted, Morning Reports must be retrieved in person. They do not take written requests for MRs as they do with Personnel records. That means either hire a researcher or go on a road trip. Unless you live reasonable close to St. Louis, I would suggest the former. By the time you add up the travel costs, you're not saving much. Plus, the researcher has experience working with MRs.

On the other hand, if money is no object and you have a lot of free time, the DIY option might be interesting and educational.
