I have some disheartening news to pass on from Ike, known as PzJgr here. I stay in contact with Ike outside of the forum and count him as a good friend. He has given me permission to make this post. His wife Cheryl, or as he calls her - My #1 Girlfriend - has been fighting Covid for around two weeks. Presently she is under close care in a hospital and is fighting an uphill battle. Everyday, he reports on her condition and it seems that she has taken a step backwards with each post. Please express your care and concern by whatever means your heart leads you to and let Ike know we are remembering Cheryl's difficulties and his love for her. If you would like for me or Lou ( @LRusso216 ) to pass on a message to Ike, let us know here and we will convey your support to him. He will appreciate it more than you can imagine.
Sadly we all seem to know someone afflicted by Covid, in my case its my oldest friend and step mother. The first fully recovered and she is doing well. I wish her well.
Ike's wife Cheryl died this morning, after being unable to fight off the effects of the coronavirus. She will be cremated and there will be a memorial service for her next July on her birthday.
Very sorry to hear Jeff. Thank you for the update, and please give him all our sympathies. It’s going to be a tough holiday and road ahead for him, as its going to be for thousands of others.
Tough to go through something like that, especially in the holiday season. We'll be here for him anytime he needs us.
Very sad news, Jeff, please also pass on my sincere condolences to Ike. I know only too well what Covid-19 is capable of - it having taken the life of my cousin last month. His younger brother was in the next hospital ward, also being treated for Coronavirus, and has thankfully pulled through, albeit with permanent damage to his respiratory system caused by the virus.
Read that recently 10% of people over 50 with the disease must be treated in hosptal and 20% has to be treated in the intensive care unit.
It was truly awful to read this. PzJgr is one of the real longtime stalwarts of this Forum and I'm deeply shocked by the news. My condolences and thoughts are with him.
Ike seems to be doing okay with the passing of his "#1 girlfriend", although he has some really low days. I say okay with the understanding it is about as "okay" as someone can be losing their greatest love. I think he realizes that life goes on and that Cheryl would expect him to keep going.
