Something that might go along with this would be a widgit in th users wards section that keeps track of salutes. Recognizing new members who make useful posts might also help keep them around which would also be beneficial.

Before. That was aroundabout April 2013.

Forum Awards - to be approached with caution in my opinion.
Seen them polarise and exclude in other places. Can get a bit cliquey; not that cliques are inherently a bad thing, but they can give people the hump if they get too dominant & back-slappy.
Didn't Urqh run his own... unique... dramatised variant of this on a thread?

Seems like there was an option on the forum at that time, that let you see everything from "Top Posts" to "Cooler Trips" and you could sort that by day, week , month and year.

I also recall there were as many people complaining about that feature as were asking about it.

    I prefer this new format

The "Dutch oven" award. ..Have some great experiences well worthy...

Should explain: After a night of beer and chili, pull the covers over your significant other, and let it rip. Sorry, don't mean to offend...But it always gets a laugh. Cruel, yes. Funny, yes.

    Rethought, if possible.
Awards do seem exclusive. Brings back high school all over again. sniff.
And awards remind me of hollywood, and i hate hollywood.

I think I lead the league in warnings and cooler trips at one point. Fortunately I had friends in high places who were able to fend off the ban hammer.

I don't think we sent anyone to the cooler in 2014.

    How many times was it?

Isn't that because "we" stopped doing that?....seems like there has been a zero tolerance policy since the move to the new format.

4 that I can think of with one "Cosmetic Infraction" so some where in the neighborhood of 5? Warnings were off the chart, I remember when I got knocked out of the top ten warnings list.

Carl and I were the only 2 Non Mods in the top 5 Rep/ saluted list for quite a while...

    Fun times

Last year was a slow year with bans. I looked through the list of banned members from last year and aside from the automatic bans that occur because the "member" was actually a bot, we only discharged a handful of active members, five or six maybe. A couple of those had created multiple accounts so the number of accounts that were shown the door is higher.

A couple of years ago, it was not unheard of to excommunicate that many in a month.

Oh for the old days when mods could ban someone.
