Hello, my name is Christie! I found this site while doing more research on WWII and what my Pappaw (Grandfather) did while he was enlisted. Ralph Scott was the first volunteer for the War from Hopkins County, Kentucky. He enlisted in at Fort Knox, Kentucky November 27, 1940. He worked his way up to Technical Sergeant in Company A 6th Infantry Armored. His separation date was July 16, 1945 from Camp Atterbury, Indiana. His Battles and Campaigns were: Algeria-French Morroco; Tunisia; Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno. He came from a family with a lot of War/Battle experience, one of his relatives being Brigadier General Turner Ashby. I'm into genealogy, history, Family, Friends, photography, nature, hiking, researching and reading. I look forward to meeting a lot of you and learning as much as possible, hearing your stories and seeing your footage. Christie
Welcome to the Forum, Christie. I look forward to hearing more about what you've discovered in your research.
Hi Christie. Welcome to the forum. I'm a bit confused by the various items you have pictured. While you say he worked his way up to Technical Sergeant, there are other ranks shown. There is also an award for the Pacific Theater (the yellow one) though as far as I can tell, the 6th was never in the Pacific. I hope you can clear up my confusion.
Thank you everyone! Hello Lou, Yes, Tommy is right, that is the American Defense medal. I'm sorry for any confusion I've caused. I was looking at his separation paperwork when I wrote that he was a Technical Sergeant but your question peeked my curiosity and after going online and looking at his stripes, it appears his last rank was of a First Sergeant. Since I've never been in the Armed Forces his separation paperwork is a bit confusing for me. I tried to upload some pictures to my profile but I wasn't allowed to and I wasn't sure if it was because I was new? I could post some of his paperwork and maybe that could help out with any confusion I've caused.
